A Rickenbacker! Man I can't wait to see em live!
@ColinStevenJohnson10 ай бұрын
Was at the Orange Peel. Was shocked to see him navigate that Rick! Falls into their Fender partnership too. He played that beautiful Rickenbacker(which is a purchasable model) and a white/white Stratocaster. Gina Gleason was Telecaster straight through, whites, but possibly pearl pickguards. She’s a force of nature. Wasn’t paying that much attention, they were RIPPING! It sounded unbelievably good in terms of tone and sonics. The best rhythm section. The entirety of the Peel staff, top notch, serious pros in a badass venue format! 🎼 Shoutout to MOOG synthesizers. ;) ⛰️ Edit: Style in; Amps, racks, floor effects, front line techs, and management.

If they know better than to have their sucky asshole "singer" who can't do it any more on stage at a major festival like this, why don't they get rid of him for good? It must suck to be Ray knowing his band doesn't really want him on stage with them and only have him either for PC reasons (afraid to fire a border jumper) or because they are stuck with some long term contract with him. And the crowd clearly is much happier than they would have been with Ray.

Masterpiece. John Arch is a genius
@flashyfrank57263 жыл бұрын
But for some reason, they keep pathetic Ray on. They have said in interviews they would rather have John, they bring John on every chance they can, the fans prefer John, so why keep Ray on? It must suck being him, clinging to a band knowing they don't want him around. From all I hear, he's an asshole too, so why?
@iamalpharius94834 жыл бұрын
Arch is so much more technically skilled than Alder. The ranges are similar but Arch just uses his vocals to complement, not compete for space in the songs. He has a totally different quality and its one that I wish he would have continued to stay with FW and evolve. Such a beautiful voice.
@gianlucasbarbati11 ай бұрын
No, they have different ranges. Arch is a light tenor, he always sings in a head chest voice, graced and helped by his fine tone, high and thinner than Alder. Ray, since his debut with Syrus and on his first album with Fates Warning, No exit, denoted a darker voice (probably a dark tenor on early albums, which over time became a baritone on Redemption albums) with turn into a graspy heady "falsettone". If we look at all his albums with Fates Warning, from Perfect Symmetry, to Parallels, through Inside Out and arriving to Diconnected, Alder suffered a gradual lowering of his vocal range. Arch, for his part, never suffered a lowering of the tonality of the songs. Unfortunately we must consider he was ALSO a smoker. John, however, maintained, as I said before, his vocal extension. Already on 2003's "A twist of fate" solo album, he had no problem reproducing vocal lines on the same key used on albums with Fates Warning. And it's not ONLY a matter of technical skills: on his Twist of fate's inlay booklet's debut album, Arch said he returned to singing after 15 years of inactivity and "needed to readapt his laryngeal muscles" to this difficult vocal lines

Great job from Fates Warning. Arch can still belt it out . But my honest opinion is that Ray Alder trumped anything Arch ever did ......and without Mark Zonder Fates Warning would never have made it beyond the underground.
