Thanks for the question. Just ink, wipe & print. Drypoint is for different areas of the plexiglass than the carborundum paste. It could be used to outline/define areas where the paste will be painted. Remember, once scratched into, lines cannot be erased if using plexiglass or paper-based board.

Robert, I don’t know what acrylic “paste” is. Acrylic matte medium is used to home-make carborundum paste. Differences in brands & in various types of acrylic mediums are discussed in the book. How to make the paste is detailed in text & pictures. Gesso was occasionally used at my studio, but is not mentioned in the book. It sort of swallowed the carborundum grits, not allowing for good distribution; and it was too liquid. Thanks for the question and the book purchase.

Thanks for the question. From the book, "Electric tools such as drills (try assorted bits), Dremel tools, the Fordham Flexible Shaft or electric scribes can be used for creating lines in plexiglass. As with many electric tools, some precautions should be taken due to possible vibrations and heat affecting your holding of the tool. Wearing heavy cotton work gloves can alleviate the discomfort with the added benefit of better control...The book has 2-4 pages of text and visual examples of differences and comparisons between lines made with manual and electric tools. Experiment with what you have using precautions mentioned above.

You will need to have a paste ratio with a moderate amount of acrylic medium to a small amount of carborundum grit. 8:1 is a good starting paste. Too low a ratio and the paste cannot adhere to plates. The book has more detailed info about this, Happy printing!
