I'm probably older than you are and I've never followed a recipe exactly. I tried. But I used real cane sugar and added a fourth of a teaspoon of almond extract. These muffins turned out better than my minestrone soup will. Believe me, I only made these because I have cornmeal on hand and my boyfriend likes cornbread. I used to not like cornbread until I sampled one using your recipe fresh out of the oven. I love them! Who knew?!? Thanks for the recipe... I'm gonna say this recipe is so good it is in the same field as Cracker Barrel restaurant good. Yum!
