I’ve owned a BlackMagic pocket 6K for a while now and I love it honestly. The form factor is terrible but it is the quality of the footage that I haven’t been able to beat with anything else. So I’ll deal with the form factor and usability to have that footage look and their color science.

Are the colors and light quality as good as a more expensive kind

I'm hoping on getting the newer 6K Pro version. But, we shall see. But, I've seen comparisons with a Red and the highlights are just not as good. So, I don't know if it's worth getting. But maybe that's all better with the newer Pro model?!

I love my E2 S6! I just shot a feature on it with Vazen anamorphic lenses and it looks incredible.

Not sure if you noticed in your footage but there are some hot pixels in the footage. I started noticing around the 4:50 mark. Great video though. I own the M4 and want to make the jump to the S6 or F6 not sure yet. I’ll keep my m$ as a back up.

Which cine lens is good for bmpcc 4k

A very informative video recently got BMPCC4K. Used to shoot video mainly on Canon DSLR & Smartphone - Pixel 7 Pro & Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro. I will still use the DSLR/smartphone for still images, mainly social media videos. I am slowly but surely building my rig. Once it's all together, I will capture some beautiful cinematic shots.

Regarding the auto focus. I sincerely believe auto focus holds people back. Prevents them from developing as a story teller. It makes for poor camera technique, moves control of the story moment from the maker to the camera, stops you thinking about how you build a scene visually and encourages you to default to AF settings and what the camera is telling you it sees. Some folk don’t even want to touch their lens, so they end up needing a second handle to grip the camera by the sides and wonder why their hand held footage is shaky. So AF is awesome if you want to film your dog running around, but is that the work you want to be known for?

I have the 6K with the Tilta screen mod. No cage needed, it’s my everyday carry. Tilt screen and clip on TB SSD. You will have to prize it out of my cold dead hand. I want a 4K with the Pod mod next. Tilt screen and big ass battery. One thing I am serious about is biting the bullet and getting the CFast storage. Spend the $ and do away with the cables. Yeah its pricey, but not as pricey as a lost shoot and then the whole file size & read/write speed issue vanishes and you get back to approaching perfect camera nirvana.

hey im interested in getting this camera. I want to know what mft lens would work as a fisheye feild of veiw (to get close to a 6mm mft equivilant) . (think skateboarding). Just curios if thats even possible on this camera...

the E2S6 is such a beast.. had it for 4 years and i refuse to sell it... For color grading maybe trying th arri log when doing CST really makes a difference

I got 2 pocket4k. Do i recommande it? If you get it for free. yes. But if you got to buy a new camera, There are so many more cameras that are better build quality for similar price points. Pocket 4k image wise is fantastic but build made from china parts that breaks a nothing is problematic.

I bought the Z Cam F6 when it came out and I keep trying to replace it. But I can't. This does so much I can not begin to tell you how good it is. I am glad to see someone else sees the same thing I see. I do have to use teh BM video monitor if I want to edit raw in Davinci Resovle to save transcoding time. But other than that. It is a very hard camera to beat. A super under rated gem. IMO.

I loved my zcam but zraw was a pain in the ass to deal with. Can you edit zraw in davinci now without using their zcam software?

Does peaking get deactivated at 4K 60fps or above 60fps when recording to Prores internal?

I treat the material from my M4 in Resolve exacly the same way.. Its a Sony chip, fool Resolve, letting it belive its shot on a Sony cam and it works really good. Ive tried Arri Alexa colorspace to Davinchi wide gamut also and it works pretty good to.. Any way.. Best cam ever. Not a crap load of buttons, easy to understand settings. I had it out in rain on a car, had my dirty muddy fingers on it and it just works! Knock on wood..

Great video brother! This is my primary A cam for youtube and video production work! I love it! Total work horse, I keep the rig compact, no gimbal, just a tripod or handheld with gyro. I love the braw and the filmic look!

Hi man, u can actually download the zlog plugin for Davinci resolve to convert without using the color space transform. Will select automatically input color space zlog2 and output as u prefer (r.709 or ax2 that is like more close to arri final look)

So, I shot with a Komodo all of 2022 for my old job and in 2023 I started working with a guy under contract that ran two Z cam E2S6's. I was shopping for a Komodo while working that contract, which was about 3 months long, and during that time the Z cam really impressed me....Like REALLY impressed me. Aside from missing my touch screen I got really good at button mashing and mapped out all the side buttons to what I needed most of the time, and if you're in a situation where you can use the app, it works so good with very low latency, and if your signal is bad literally just go yank a wifi antenna off the best router you have around and screw it into the back. The image quality looks almost as good as the Komodo. RED code raw does prevail in my opinion but for 95% of use cases, the Z cam will work just fine. At the price-point it's at currently, I agree, it pretty much is like a cheat code and I might even be buying another one. Amongst a bunch of other cameras when I was shopping, I had saved a mostly rigged E2S6 off facebook marketplace that was listed for $2000 USD and I watched the price get lowered to $1700 over the course of about 8 weeks. I ended up getting it for $1350 for a Basically brand new Z Cam E2S6, Nitze cage, Top handle, side handle, a $200 Canon 50mm lens, Bestview Monitor, one V-Mount battery, all the cables, and even the original box. Spent $150 so far for one 512 GB CFAST card and a $20 reader. CFAST sucks, but it is finally affordable and viable in my opinion, so not a deal breaker. I'll be $1670 in when I get another CFAST card. Unreal deal. I do really need the Evnd module which are $300-$400USD but I'll still be around $2000 for my entire setup. Anybody that's serious about video and on a budget should be foaming at the mouth at the current opportunity to own something that provides as much value as a Z Cam does. Outshoot all these FX3 kids for half the price. Z Cam's don't resell very well. Currently I'd recommend buying a used one, there's plenty of people that have been sitting on them that you can get even cheaper. If you don't plan on selling it and you truly need it as a tool, go scoop one up, you will not regret it.

I Actually have one right here. My friend is traveling and wanted something ultra light. We traded for a month, my A7s(OG) for pocket 4K. I wanted to try hands on al the BM "magic" everyone is talking about. To be honest, it is still in the bag. lol. Sony has us spoiled. Dirt cheap 1.4 primes with autofocus, IBIS, usbC, webcam and 2 XLR + 2 audio inputs on a body that does not need a cage, makes it really, really hard to set up the BM. i am talking about the FX30 btw, that is my daily driver

I've always been torn about cables and chords in music videos... but at the end of the day I ALWAYS go for visual/audio continuity in all aspects when filming/editing.
