ML2023 was such a great ML. The soundtrack was great, it was by far the most competitive ML of them all. Even if my O’rangers disappointed, everything else was just, chefs kiss. And most of this was done thanks to you Minos. Thanks for working extra hard to make these events more memorable.

If i were to call it with SMR marbles, i would definetly call it Superball's Rivalry with Red Number 3

The best marble league and song

Farewell Minos. Wrote an analysis of this piece as tribute: Cast In Stone was created for Season 6 the Marble Rally, and I enjoy it firstly because it was written in the odd time signature of 7/4. This gives the music a sense of uncertainty, but also intensity. A recurring theme is presented in the beginning that slowly increases in volume and builds the music as a whole. Then, at 0:23, voices are added that provide a subtle yet clear harmonic passage. The percussion (mainly timpani) and brass also provide a driving pulse to keep the momentum of the music moving forward. At 1:08, a counter-melody is produced by a French Horn and implements something new the keep the piece fresh. 1:54 gives the melodic line mainly to the strings with a rushing semi-quaver motif, still with lower brass keeping the pulse of the odd time signature. The role of voice changes to holding an F5 for 3 bars which then progresses to a G5. The music then ends potently with a D natural minor scale beginning on G (subdominant note). This takes place vibrantly on a xylophone; ascending while increasing in dynamic volume up to the D to finish. This gives attention to the winner of the race grabbing the gold medal. For all these reasons, I believe Cast In Stone by Minos Fylaktos is one of my favourite contemporary compositions to date.

This game is a nice idea, sadly it seems it will stay stuck in a state that looks like an early beta at best... - A Marble League is not a Marble League without qualification and showdown, which are both not in the game. Okay, that's the least of the major complaints, as those can, with some effort, be simulated in quickplay, but still. - Although the game description grandiosely promises updates, two years after their introduction we are still waiting for the Black Jacks, the Purple Rockets, Team Plasma and the Wolfpack. This is sad, as I assume a lot of ML fans would use this game mainly to simulate upcoming Marble Leagues. (Waiting a year for the next tournament can be tough... 🙂) - This game gives us nine (!) teams that I assume are invented by development backers, which is a nice gesture, but what am I as a player supposed to do with them? They are just taking space (and, granted, they can be used as placeholders for the 4 still missing teams mentionned before, but that's only a slight consolation), while we get as few as three (!) editable teams. That feels like a punch in the face. The developers should give us more (at least 10, in my opinion) or let us edit at least the 9 custom teams, maybe even the existing ML teams. Let us experiment! - The worst thing, in my opinion, is the fact that over the course of an entire Marble League, the starting order doesn't vary. That would be a bit dull, but not a big problem, if every team would compete for itself. But in events with a preliminary round, where teams compete against each other directly and the best out of 2, or the best 2 out of 4, advance, it's always the same teams competing against each other. I'm sorry, but at least this point is freeware quality. I have the impression that those things could be fixed without too much effort, and that would increase the fun at playing the game massively. I won't give up the hope, because, as I said, the game is a great idea and I enjoy creating my own ML tournaments...

I believe the mistake in the strings is at 1:07, as some dissonance can be heard (I'm a musician btw).

That trumpet at the beginning gave me chills. I think this is the best of all the podium themes; up there with 2021 at least. Brought a tear to my eye when my team podiumed (I'm a Team Gaactic fan).
