I owned one exactly the same as this when I was serving in the British Army in Cyprus in 1988. I imported it back to the UK when I left the Army in 1989. I loved that little bike. 45 mph on the flat & could squeeze 60 out of it if the hill was steep enough 🙂

When that model 'Water Bus' (as we called em in Australia) smokes like that... The S.R.I.S. system (which picks up the oil from the bottom of the crank case and recirculates it to the carb) needs to be cleared out *3 valves and hoses. The Auto oil system is also tweekable
@motohoard2 ай бұрын
Yeah, thats a great tip... I did drain the system before the first start but I can tell I missed some. In this video I had also added a bit of premix to the fuel tank just to be sure that my oil pump was primed after its long rest.

I remember that color. My dad got a kz 400 new in 75. Was my first bike later. A buddy of his had a Suzuki that color.

I had this same motor on a 1959 16 ft. run about. Awesome engine! When I was a kid, my dad raced hydroplanes and they used this engine. Mains are needle bearings, no transmission in the foot. Bullet proof!

Mark 78 is 70 horses vs 60 horses for the Mark 75, friends. Long live the “Tower of Power”. I get goosebumps every time I hear one. I swear, my Dad’s old Maroon Mark 78 appeared to me to be alive. Especially when in reverse. It would be growling and looking to the left and then the right , back left as it pushed the Crosby runabout back. Seemingly impatient to be turned off for that very brief interval “silent neutral” and then he would shove that pistol grip into forward, setting her free to dig in and fly!!!!! No speed limit here!

Have you sold this boat yet? Where is it located?
@RichardSacher12 жыл бұрын
Nice I would sure like to see it on the water.
@Dew1us12 жыл бұрын
I say it because I witnessed someone dry firing one of their race engines and the prop threw a blade. Luckily the blade did not hit someone but it did go through another boat.
@Dew1us12 жыл бұрын
Your stupid by leaving the Prop on the motor and running the motor while not in the water.

Direct drive speedmaster, it's on the hose muzzle. Pretty standard practice, stand back!
