I have a feeling that would have been delicious were it not 20-something years old. That's a bit different from the one that Kiwi Dude did; the one he had didn't have the freeze-dried fruit mix; instead it was just a normal fruit salad...let's just say, oxidized fruit doesn't last 20 years. You got the better one, I think.

Hahaha! Wonder if the NK troops in Ukraine are allowed to enjoy the Russian MRE's? Those Russian MRE's look mighty tasty. If they are fed Russian MRE's, those NK soldiers will have some stories to tell their comrades back home. Best meals of their lives, I'll bet!

I gotta say...between you and @Steve1989MREInfo,you guys are my favorite for ration reviews. Not to mention, the UK rations...I would love to get a chance to try a nice fresh one; they sound delicious!

I just ordered some that were mnfr'd by Warnock for hurricane stores, and for 'Menu 1,3,5' I get 2 entrees (lentil stew, beans and rice w/ tomato sauce), 3 sweet snacks (toaster pastry, shortbread cooking, fig bar), 2 packs MRE crackers, vit C fortified peanut butter, and strawberry jam. Not bad for $4. The 'menu 2, 4' swaps pasta w/tomato sauce, so look for another mnfr for more variety. Toting up the nutrition I get 2100 kcal, 50 g protein, 2950 mg Na, 1600 mg K, 820 mg Ca, 20 mg Fe, 338 mg Mg, 15 mg Zn. Assuming there's at least 40 mg vitamin C, it looks complete on all essential nutrients. As I ordered an extra case for trying/snacking, I'll probably go through it before the next hurricane. The sweet snacks will probably be bagged and handed out to the needy, there's really nothing interesting going on with them other than lots of sugar, which my belly doesn't need. All the interesting food science is in the entrees, which are calorie dense (1.4-1.8 kcal/g) thanks to maltodextrin and have the equivalent of a multivitamin + calcium + potassium + magnesium supplement between them.

i played this for my new wife, she is from Monterrey Mexico. she was not surprised at the bag it was in. but she went off the chain when she saw that Tapatio, "oh this is fake! no one in mexico knows about Tapatio!! that is american salsa" lolz that was funny though. the candy sucker with the worm in it. my wife says the government would never afford putting those in rations. as the suckers with worms are hand made.
