Always preferred News Radio 88 to 1010 Wins, but now radio listeners in the NYC area have no choice for news radio. It's now 1010 Wins or nothing. What a waste.....

@@bluestripetiger I wouldn't call it a complete waste because all ESPN did was move the programming from 98.7 to 880. Meanwhile, TJ 98.7 is now a direct competitor of WNEW 102.7.

@@jimsradiocheck936 It's pretty good, but a bit complicated. The Egzumer firmware has a lot of features, including a spectrum analyzer and 18-1300 MHz receiving in AM, FM, and USB modes. There are other features, but too many to name.

That AM station looks scary on 1450, on a graveyard frequency. I got this before on 1450 kHz before I received WWRI West Warwick and WHLL Springfield

Seems like all Audacy stations that play Christmas music flip over at round about the same time. Means that Audacy and CBS don’t have to pay a lot of people during the holidays. Automation is something else. Just proves that they can programme a radio station without having too many people. Here in the St. Louis area our “official” station has also already been flipped to holiday music. WRMI Legends on SW seems like they wait until after the Thanksgiving holiday to start their Holiday Music schedule. As a footnote I remember when CBS experienced with a new type of automated radio system, for what was then a new station-KHTR, which had evolved from KMOX FM. It used this automated system that Audacy uses today for its Christmas music programming.

I’m still working on the Christmas Music flips tomorrow with my two locals: WICC-AM 600 kHz (Bridgeport), which I’m hoping for it to switch to Christmas music. And WEBE-FM 107.9 MHz from Westport, CT to do the same thing. I’m going through a lot of anxiety right now and the reason why I haven’t been posting because I have I have a lot of things to deal with.

WNHP-AM/W288CX flips to Christmas Music on 11/23/2024 with WEBE 107.9 FM too. I can’t get WALK-FM because of bleed over from W249DY (WATR-AM Waterbury, CT) Im doing WEBE, WNHP/W288CX and the TrueOldies Radio (590 WAMF, 1370 WRBC, 1520 WAEK, 1600 WPZY) from East Haven, Connecticut. Because they’re all swiping from TrueOldies Radio to Shoreline Hits on Monday 11/25/24 at 5pm EST. TrueOldies got bankrupted.

The original version was released by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and they did it much better in 1967. Unfortunately that was even his worst song and after that he slowly faded away.

How long do you think it will play in radio mode with a full charge. The great thing about these disposable radios if they are half way decent is that you end up using them alot more because of they break it’s not a catastrophic loss and can be replaced.

I heard that first guy talking on the CB earlier that morning. I received his signal, sometime between 9-10AM, from what I can remember, on 11/20/2024, in Carrollton, MO, using a SDRPlay RSP1A, a modified MLA-30 loop antenna & bias tee & the SDRConnect software.

@@xale3797 I also get WALK, but WPEN "97.5 The Fanatic" has come in occasionally in a couple of spots. It usually lasts a few seconds and then fades out.

A TV station sends audio or video from their studio to their transmitter using a particular frequency. They are called studio to transmitter link or STL. They operate at low power, usually around 100 watts. The most common I see is around 450 or 455 MHz.

I bought a YB400PE about 6 years ago used, in like new condition. I think it was given by some guy as a gift to his dad, who never used it. I only paid $30. It was to temporarily replace my Sony ICF-2001 that needs repairs. It's a great little portable / travel radio; small and lightweight, but performs well. My two BIG complaints are: (1) The dial lamp is worthless. It's just a tiny green LED on the left that barely lights up. Is this normal? (2) The lettering in the black faceplate area is almost totally illegible, unless you shine a flashlight onto it. You can't see what these 7 buttons do. Thankfully those buttons are rarely used. So I always bring a mini-flashlight with me when I use the radio. I also have a like new GE Superadio 2 that I love to use for DXing at night. I got it at a flea market for $10 about 20 years ago.

Why would they name a radio station with K call letters, I don’t understand. What do you kind of remind me of AM 1020 KDKA from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I don’t know why. Note: in New York, they use W call letters not K call letters, it don’t make sense at all. K call letters are only for states like California and Arizona.
