"Looking for a beat that embodies the golden era of hip-hop?" start sampling old jazz, blues, r&b, basically any music from the 30's-80's. especially the drum loops. you'll find it. anything past 2000 era sounds waaaaay to synthetic and lacks that gritty boom-bap sound. I can't stand non sampled beats. It sounds way too fake and clean.
