funnily enough, i am currently doing a karlach oathbreaker playthrough. the subclass really fits with her personality of desiring freedom above all else, while being evil.

I never found gale and didn’t know he was a companion in my first playthrough

My version of this was: a) I never even saw the broken portal with Gale. I don't know if I walked right past it or took some weird route, but regardless I'm in Act 3 now and have finally realised that he's not a late game character like I thought. And b) I guess I managed to piss off Lae'zel at the crash site and she bounced? I didn't know what was meant to happen, but I had a couple of interactions with her then she was gone and it was just me and Shadowheart. I never even got the cutscene you got at the mountain pass, she was just already dead when I finally found her. But I think I triggered her interactions with her fellow Gith then immediately left since they were too high a level to fight and eventually came back to her dead on the ground and the red dragon gone. I love that this game lets you do a ton of stuff, but tbh I wouldn't have minded a little bit of hand holding to find those two 😅

I know the interaction with shadowheart also happens, if go to the map border after the gith, towards their HQ. But I never tried the route to act 2 via the underdark without shadow....

Killed by a bunch of mortal monster hunters, But sure, totally worth condemning 7000 tortured victims to the Hells. Totally.

Btw If you kill Karlach before recruiting Wyll, he will just leave without speaking to you

My roommate and I had long gaps between our play sessions due to opposing work schedules. We played blind couch co-op for our first playthrough and missed many of the origin characters (as well as many many side quests due to not remembering what we did the previous sessions too clearly). Wyll we thought was just a cool NPC keeping the tieflings safe. We never even saw Gale or Lae'zel. We didn't find Karlach until we accidentally traveled from Act 2 back to the Act one location while exploring the mountain road. (We took the underdark route to Act 2). It does make me sad knowing the characters's fates without Tav!

On my first playthrough i killed him because the first thing he did was attack you. I was also a rogue and didnt need a spare. I keep him for non rogue playthroughs. He is hilarious

I just finished the story going with the "ascended romance" all the way with Astarion, with him turning me into a vampire spawn, and I have to say I was a bit let down, because there really are dark elements involved in how the romance turns out after he is ascended. I was almost hoping that it would have effects on the story, and even on the choices that you can make, that he had such influence over your character if your went down this route. Of course I understand why there aren't since it already is such immense game. As for starting to dislike him early, there is one point in very early game where you can succeed in a skill check to reveal that he is just flattering your character even when he doesn't really like you, so I think even those players who failed that check would be metagaming like "huh? so is he lying to me and my character just didnt realize it?" and those who succeeded in the check knew he was just blowing hot air. He really is a very difficult character to like, but that is explained with his traumatized back story.

I broke my Oath and accidentally killed the oathbreaker knight. In due time when I wanted to restructure and rebuild my Paladin, I went to withers and he told me the same thing. For the longest time I didn't know who to turn to help me, I only realized it was too late because I was about 75 hours into the game from when I killed the Oath Breaker knight for being in my camp...

If lae'zel talks to the gith alone, they execute her. But scroll of revivify still works, UNLIKE JAHIRA!

Ascendant Astarion is such a failure for his character arc.

Its actually possible to save Lae'zel's life in Act 2 if you get out of the conversation with the goblin fast enough and drop a torch by her feet. Can be done without any gimmicks but you can also have a dead party member and a summoned mage hand to bypass the conversation

I know that if you refuse to add Shadowheart to your party after the Goblin Camp intervention, she eventually disappears from the bridge and you get the artifact appearing in your inventory at camp scene you showed at 0:31 when you go through the Mountain Pass or into the Shadow-Cursed Lands. I wonder if this is what her fate ultimately is and this is the interaction that WOULD happen if you somehow found her corpse after that artifact transition cutscene (which I never did, I looked)-- explaining why you suddenly get the artifact and why she's not around anymore, the artifact burned her to death to escape from her and go to you. I shouldn't be surprised that the developers had yet another interaction programmed for those who somehow get to this point and find her corpse lol. This game never ceases to amaze me!

I have tried to kill Wyll then get Karlach. but I think I broke him because you can't talk to him or recruit him even if you revive him.
