LIFE IN THE HOLYLAND 📗 December is winter in lsrael, but it is a mild winter compared to many parts of the world. Shepherds are out grazing their flocks in the Bethlehem area in December. I was out hiking one Christmas morning east of Bethlehem and came across a shepherd with his flock. He told us that he had spent the d night out in the fields with his sheep. The temperature can fluctuate, as in any part of the world, but Israel enjoys a Mediterranean climate, meaning that it is mild. Those who claim that the weather is too cold for shepherds to be in the fields in December are misinformed.Shepherds are out with their flocks to care for them and prevent them from getting lost, as well as protecting them from the attacks of animals.
