I had a double level fusion, single level Total Disc Replacement . L4/5 L5/S1 fused and the L3/4 level a TDR . An anterior hybrid surgery. For quite a good result. Back working etc. Relatively pain free. If it lasts another 20 years............they can lay me on the slab and show the world ;)

Glad this was a cadaver lol After multiple thoracic vertebral fracture and cervical disc herniation after a seizure and collapse, I had a T4,5,6,7 fusion and C 4/5 fusion. After years of pain in thoracic spine, I was unable to even take a breath in, my sternum has protruded through my chest and sticks out and my kyphosis is measured at 90degrees now, metalware was taken out of thoracic spine pedicle screw had gone into intercostal space, causing inflammation and obvious discomfort. I’m having so many problems now, SVT and respiratory problems and digestion issues. I fall over all the time and the pain is horrible. I do not wish thoracic spine problems on anyone.

I went through a year of EEG’s induced seizures with the electrodes on my head, and then I had a craniotomy and they put the electrodes in my brain, induced more seizures to pinpoint EXACTLY where they are NOT only happening but WHERE they are ORIGINATING! I am now getting ready for the temporal resection.,I will keep you guys updated on here. P.s I had a hemorrhagic stroke. And they then developed “ clonic tonic seizures

this is not a fusion. its clearly a total disc replacement.

Having ALIF surgery in two weeks. After 16 years in Pain Management, many, many injections, two ablations, physical therapy, a lot of pain medicine, I ran out of options. The last time my Pain Management Doctor tried to do an injection, he didn’t have the space to place the needle and that’s when he referred me to my Neurosurgeon. Because the Spondylolthesis L5 over S1 is so bad, I’m experiencing nerve damage down my leg. Reason my back is ruined is I started gymnastics at two and became a Professional Freestyle Skier. All the pounding…scoliosis, 5 fractured vertebrae etc. yeah probably shouldn’t have watched this😔

Good demo But i think it can be done by small lateral incision on required level onstead of making a large midline incision which later on causes cervical pain? Correct me if i am wrong

Hi, what’s the difference between an orthopedic surgeon and Neurologist surgeon for this type of surgery?
@froggy01654 ай бұрын
There was no difference for me, my first discectomy was done by a neurosurgeon. My second 2 and my upcoming alif/plif with orthopedic spine surgeon (and vascular surgeon to get to spine)

I’m glad the question of an effective discectomy was asked about in this setting. And the surgeons honest response. This is critical for those with disc herniations and repeat herniations after an original discectomy. Wouldn’t want to wake up with the same pain.
