Shaun Pacarro is in a league all by himself. I couldn't have directed him to play what naturally flows from his mind and finger, a true virtuoso and genuinely good guy. "he's good people', and if your from the south, you've said it all...

My classmates ( you and Bert)... that always came back from lunch to tell Ms . Ponder the memorized lines of poetry 😂😂😂😂 plus Nathaniel Ray and Vince too boot... that class was everythang back in the day!! RIP Bert Johnson

This song was written in anticipation of Bert's birthday on April 18, 2023. I knew his birthday was coming up, so i thought i would chronicle a little of our lives, this song was about those times at the old Jr. High. ... mostly

This is not the way the kata are done at the Kodokan.
@terryre.e.dАй бұрын
It is a different Ko, but yes it is, if the year that it was taught is defined (pre-1970) These kata were not taught to Kimo Wall at the Kodokan of Matayoshi, they were taught in Seiko HIga's Shodokan dojo (home) beginning in mid 60's when Sensei began training there.

Some of these kata are not Matayoshi Kata, at all

damn, i can pack my bags anytime. Literally thinkin that I might end up close to there before the end of the school year. Retirement to start another profession sounding better everyday. My plan is to hop from dojo to dojo, while playing music at night.

I don't know how many times i've started over, it's never too late. hammer on
It was very good to hear his voice once again. I haven't heard it in nearly half a century. I met him at a demonstration in 1972 when I was a student at S.U.N.Y. Alfred. At that time he was affiliated with Shorei Kan under Toguchi Seikichi Hanshi. Later, he established Kodokan. In the summer of 1974, after 2 years of intensive training, I traveled to his dojo in Santa Ana, CA where he personally tested and promoted me to shodan. I am very proud to have been one of his students. I've never known anyone to match his power and precision.

tbh this didn’t actually exist when the sai was made, the sai was a law enforcement weapon made in japan and was used like a western baton and was never actually for stabbing, the end is actually blunt and quite rounded and was only used to swing at criminals, the edges are obviously for blocking weapons and sometimes could even snap/bend weapons and there was no martial arts that tought how to use the sai
@samueldickenson2062 Жыл бұрын
There weren't any bo Kata when people started hitting each other with sticks. Doesn't mean that sakugawa no kon has no historical significance though. Fyi I am not familiar with this specific sai kata, I just think your comment is stupid.
@rossilavery Жыл бұрын
Imagine being poked by one of those 'blunt' ends. You do not think that much force focused into a small point wouldn't be incredibly damaging? What would you rather step on your foot, a shoe or a stiletto?
@timandjacquinicklin9596 Жыл бұрын
The Japanese version of this weapon is Jitte and I had one side hook . The sai comes to Okinawa from China actually . All Kata whether new or ancient were made up by someone, somewhere at some point in history. Semper viratus Tim
