There isn't many heads that have the power to delimb hardwood for such a compact size

Can you describe how you're deciding on poles, bolts, pulp?
@ponsseguy
@ponsseguy Ай бұрын
The poles are marked with rings of paint, one yellow ring is 37', one orange 42', two orange is 47'. Then we're taking 8' bolts to 8" and 12' to 6". I mostly let the computer decide what length of bolts to take, it's leaning toward 12' but taking 8' if that makes less pulp in the top. Also the 12' can't be over 20" on the butt.

@ponsseguy

I don't know. We won't get out with a chainsaw unless there's no way to cut it with the machine. Not saying that's the best or fastest but it works for us.

@@ponsseguy I guess this way you avoid the hard work of delimbing the tree manually. I often wondered how tiring it is to operate an harvester like the Ponsse Ergo ?

How would you compare this to a dangling head such as a Waratah or Logmax etc ? I would think the fixed head would be a lot easier to control. Not as much movement.
@ponsseguy
@ponsseguy 8 ай бұрын
Personally I don't think a dangle head is harder to control, especially in this type of cutting where the timber is pre felled. For myself I prefer dangle heads.
