Vanguard "cheapness" is based on the fact that they buy stock according to the stated index, then they rebalance throughout the year. This is done by a much smaller team. There no crap about managed funds which have never outperformed a true index over any 10 year period and 99% don't outperform over 5 years. SO the cost of management is not inflated by a claim of magic! That means the fund is far cheaper and and .4% over 20 years delivers far more to the fund owner that paying 2% over twenty years.

The West is pushing regressive economic policies to reduce carbon whilst Asia is steamrolling ahead into their industrial revolution.

Is that a parody of some sort??? When someone has a background in finance / economy, they should know that you need to look at the raw data and then look at the quality of the data. Right now, we are in a situation where NOAA and the IPCCS have been caught red handed making meteorological data up and deleting data points that don't fit their narrative. Interestingly, the made-up data points have always been tailored to fit the doomsday scenarios, which know are scientific garbage (GiGo effect). ... *But when you need a display of how you can use abstract fear to "sell" your product to a gullible audience, the video is spot on.* I guess I will use the video to illustrate abstract scaremongering in a mass media context for my students... See: Olsson, A., Nearing, K.I. and Phelps, E.A., 2007. Learning fears by observing others: the neural systems of social fear transmission. Social cognitive and affective neuroscience, 2(1), pp.3-11.

Seriously? Olsson, Nearing and Phelps? You gotta be kidding. This is classic confirmation bias (see NOBEL prize winner Kahneman). I'll use this in my classes to teach academic over-reach by the underqualified.

I was born in 1992: atmospheric CO2 was 355ppm. In 2022, it was 417ppm. If I live to be 80, CO2 will be around 540ppm if we continue at the current rate.
@pakan3579 ай бұрын
And 80 years is such a ridiculously minuscule timeframe to Earth. Yes, changes happen continuously for millions of years. But this fast? If scientists are wrong, well, everything will be fine. If they are right, then "told you so".
@peteMickeal339 ай бұрын
@@pakan357 no worries, they've been consistently wrong for as long as the science itself exists. There won't be any "I told you so".
@pakan3579 ай бұрын
@@peteMickeal33 This can't be quite right, since the whole modern world relies on scientists being right. And you seem very confident in your claim, almost like you know more than thousands of people who devote their lives to study climate.
@peteMickeal339 ай бұрын
@@pakan357 I'm not religious, so I don't pray to the scientific deities either. Climate science has been dead wrong forever. If you read a bit you might find out. Believe it or not, it used to be global cooling just a bunch of years ago. Then, the story changed, and the poles would melt as the ozone layer disappeared. Hear much about that anymore? Now, there is yet some other new made up apocalipse scenario to keep the simple minded busy and scared. Big portions of the scientific community are corrupted. That's how it is.
@f.d.66679 ай бұрын
Yup, and that's still quite a bit away from the optimal 630 ppm used in greenhouses... and a phenomenon we have seen many times in the past.
@shanehaggard26309 ай бұрын
Why is it that climate alarmist since the 1950's have always had to back track on their predictions? Remember when all the top climate scientists in the 70's got together, made a documentary, and had Lenard Nemo narrate it, the doc claimed becuase of global warming the earth would be covered in a sheet of ice by the mid 90's. It's called fear porn. It's why "scientists" keep pushing the most extreme outcomes of the predicted models. So they scare the public and politicians into taxing the citizens more so the "scientists" keep that grant money coming in.

I invested a lump sum right before the crash of ‘22, learned my lesson. It’s taken 2 years, and I still haven’t made all my money back. The next lump sum I’ve been dollar cost averaging, and I’ve done much better. If you are part of the % that doesn’t do well, with lump sum investing, it hurts more.
