Believe it or not, they never smell like wet dog. They have a wild coat, waterproof and self cleaning. They are clear of mud by the time we get back to the car almost every time. I’m so lucky 😅

I will have a dna test done when I have the spare cash 🤣 Until then they are a mix of Alaskan Malamute and M’loot malamutes, a third line of Alaskan Malamute that is thought to be extinct. We shall see one day soon. Either way, they are awesome. lol

I just looked at Loki and smiled. He was a big boy 100 pounds plus. Loved everyone unless he thought you were a threat. Interesting that there are different kinds never knew that. Anti cougar and bear 😅 There were 3 distinct lines of malamutes and the AKC mixed two of them to make the malamute of today, in short. It is a very complex situation since at various points in our history, sled dogs were needed in mass. Gold rush and WW2 to name a couple. Most Mals are not pure mals at all which is sad because they could be the oldest dogs. The ones who helped get us through the ice age and who came from whatever line of domesticated wolves. Americans screwed it up with our standards and need for self sustainability without thoughts of consequence
