It's a beautiful waiatata I cry everytime I play it I remember all my whanau I've lost since I've been brought up and adopted out now got older children It's hard to tell them because we were only young growing up knowing nothing. This song is all I can go back on I can't even tell my kids.

Miharo!!! Had the privilege to hear this song played live by maisey rika and her brother. Tinged with sadness as this song is what we sang as a whanau for my koro when he was killed in the bush.

Here are the lyrics: Tu tangata, mahea, tangi tonu ahau, Tu tangata, mahea, tangi tonu ahau. I tona waietu totara koe, piomahaki ana e, Whakakoana i te ahi o, tangi ana hou, Mana mai nga tipuna, potatau kia mau, Tu tangata, mahea, tangi tonu ahau. I nga te i te ahau kapapa, tu te i, te kura e, Tu tangata, mahea, tangi tonu ahau, Once I stood like a Totara tree, gently swaying in the breeze, I hear a whisper in the air, and I cry. I feel my tipuna everywhere, even next to me, Proud & noble, strong & free and still I cry. Tu tangata, mahea, tangi tonu ahau, Tangi tonu ahau, aue! Tu tangata, mahea, tangi tonu ahau.

Every day that I awaken I am grateful to be alive. But I am so humbly grateful to have been born of Maori decent to this beautiful country called Aotearoa. No matter where I am on this planet. I know where the best place on earth is. I sometimes wonder what this beautiful country will be like in years to come. We are doing okay being caretakers . . . . only just though. Respect the taonga that is AOTEAROA so that our garndchildren may enjoy it after we have passed on
