Back in the mid and late 1960s, we'd go to Sun Valley nearly every Saturday night in the summertime. The parking lot would be thick with the smell of beer in the air. Nearly every Saturday night, there was always at least one fight in the stands at Sun Valley until beer was banned on the back stretch. Friday nights, we'd go to the Muncie Raceway, and on Sunday afternoon, we'd sometimes go to Mt Lawn. Sun Valley always had the best figure 8 races. I well remember Bob Fields, Herb Rose, Don Andrews, John Rhonemous, and Gene Huston. Some of the best memories of my youth took place there. After basketball and bowling, it seemed like Figure 8 racing was by far the most popular sport in East Central Indiana.

My dad, Joe Slayton, is in this video at 7:55. Too cool. Mom made him retire before my memory kicks in. This is the only footage of him driving I have ever found.....

I laughed at first then after a while I found this match to be fun to watch. This was more enjoyable than any match on WWE I have seen in the past years

Fat Harold -- It's in my humble opinion that a FUN wrestling match can be just about anything, what makes a wrestling match great isn't the bumps or the high spots... it's the story being told in the ring. This match is a wonderful example of having a super simplistic story with everything making sense. You have to give credit to the performers in the ring, regardless of age... these men know exactly what they're doing and they hit everything that they need to do. It looks like everyone had fun with it, especially the crowd-- which is all that really matters in the end. :)
As a pro wrestling fan for 30 years I must say watching this makes me sick. Seeing these guys this old, wearing T-Shirts (And Ricky Morton God Bless Him, should have had one too) is such a shame. As great as these men were in wrestling to see them just basically standing around talking to the fans in what is supposed to be a wrestling match is a joke. These men should be able to retire gracefully instead of having to put there selfs to shame looking pathetic still trying to hold on to glory. These men in their time made no money (Barbarian might have as he was around until WCW folded) and they live in old broken down homes driving old broken down cars. I live down the Road from Robert Gibson in Pensacola Florida and you should see how deplorable his house and car is. Brings a tear to my eyes to see these once great men I looked up to looking like this. Sad.

Why don't you shut up and lose weight yourself. You have said nothing good about these men, nothing!!!These men love what they do,and who cares what lifestyle they live, that's their business and if they ever run into you they will knock off that double chin that makes me cry to look at...Brings tears to your eyes!! you are full of it fat boy...

TombstoneChris -- You know, it's wrestling fans like you that really ruin wrestling for everyone else. You have a problem with these guys working and getting a pay check? You're really going to judge people who still love what they do and who still go out and entertain the fans? Look, they're not wrestling in front of thousands of people or live on national TV, they're wrestling in front of a smaller, more intimate crowd who actually wants to see them. Obviously you cared enough to search for this match yourself otherwise you would have never known it existed. Second, people AGE. Everyone gets older, and Father Time is rough on all of us. I can't help it that Ricky and Robert look like two men pushing their 60's, because they are! Honestly, I think they look pretty great for their ages-- considering the hard and fast lifestyle they led well into their 40's and mad respect to them for being able to still move and perform at the level they do. I know for a fact I couldn't do what they do and I'm 25! I'd like to see you get in the ring and try. And I call bull crap on you living right down the street from Robert in Pensacola. Last time I checked, he was living in Douglasville, GA. And even if his living arrangements aren't up to your standards (which I'm sure they're fine), who the hell are you to judge? Jeez. Quit hating for the sake of hating.
