I always like Cream Puff and thought it was an interesting part of the GD because to me it’s one of their very rare songs that actually sounds like a ‘60s song. Their approach to writing and playing was so different from even everyone else of their own era… almost none of their songs ever fit in with the Time Life Books Sounds of the ‘60s type CDs but if the 2 that do (to me) are Cream Puff and Born Cross-Eyed but I’ve never liked Cross-Eyed.

NPC was one of the GD’s first truly beautiful compositions, and one of the earliest showing Phil to be head-and-shoulders above all the other electric bassists. Do you ever play the ABB’s Nobody Knows? There was a brief phrasing at one point here that popped it into my head… “now I want to hear them play Nobody Knows.”
