It's simple, they feel no pressure, nothing matters, they are expected to lose. Huby feels no pressure, he is free, no more having to live up to his contract, he is loose and feels good. Edmonton on the other hand are expected to win, the pressure is ON! They are expected to win, they have to live up to the billing! Pressure is a big deal.........

If the rebuild isn't as long as our veterans think, it might be even more painful for us. I'm concerned that there's still no elite talent on this roster. Where's your legit #1 center or your elite PMD? Can you win a Cup without those? How many Cup winners of this era didn't have top 3 draft picks contributing in major roles? You could maybe make a case for the '19 Blues (Pietrangelo was #4), but is that your model? After that you're looking back to the Dynasty Red Wings to find a winner that didn't... Sure, a rebuild isn't a guarantee of success, but its the most consistent path to a Cup in this era.
@Daiinkeh17 күн бұрын
Exactly. Don’t worry we will come down to earth and start losing then we can finally be honest again and pressure the management to stay focus on the rebuild plan. Our lack of top end talent will make us mid forever without a rebuild. Once other teams like Edmonton and Colorado find their stride we are going to drop in the standings which is a must for us to get high draft picks. I just hope our trade assets keep up their high scoring so we can sell them high.

Before the season started, I told a friend I thought the Flames were gonna win the cup this year, & my friend agreed! There's a number of positive things coming together all at once, but I think the real key is that Connie & Huska are both really great human beings. They clearly care about other people, and that makes all the difference - it makes them better at their jobs and gives them more insight into who should be playing where and when.

Man I absolutely love Pike's breakdowns. Keep rockin it man!

So. Conny. Huska's Hustlers. It starts from the top. Great piece Pike, thanks for the Marky callback because goalies are on everyone's mind. Marky finished #32 out of 64 goalies last year. Be slightly better than 50% and our goaltending has improved lol. Great piece.
@robtlj448518 күн бұрын
You know, with maybe a couple holes on D and goaltending still to be proven, when you look at the Flames vs the cap and what they have in $ to spend they are actually kinda stacked. $17.8mm in space and Sharangovich slotting in might be another point per game. Value for money.
@CLo-ly1ic18 күн бұрын
Flames are 4-0 and will be 5-0 after Saturday's game in Seattle . Soon Sharangovich will be back and Honzek will be sent down to the Wranglers!!

With each win, the tension and pressure builds for the team to keep it up. Hopefully they can brush it off and just keep rolling.

Can flames leverage cap space and/or Anderson to net a cornerstone young Center? It's the biggest gap in the organization. Outside of the massive question marks in the crease. Eveyone is hopeful wolf or vladdy can step it up this year, but both are pretty unproven in the NHL.

Awesome coverage! Looking forward to this year. Win or lose, it’ll be very interesting to see the direction this team takes both this season and beyond as they rebuild.

If the team surpasses expectations by a good measure. I'm sure Conroy will upgrade with all the cap space they have. Of course pre season is all sunshine and rainbows anyway. Heres to a Kuzy "Interesting, very interesting" season!

If a waived player gets claimed by another team, does the player get a say in staying with the original team?
@ryanpikeFN28 күн бұрын
Nope! If you're claimed, you're required to report to your new team.

I asked Elliot Friedman this and didn't get an answer. How typical is it for a player to be claimed off waivers at this time of year? Is there an unspoken agreement to not do so?
@fergsfilms782Ай бұрын
My opinion, because that's all I can speak on, is that most GM's aren't exactly watching the waiver wire to see if there is someone who will help the team, because if they could help an NHL team they probably wouldn't be on waivers. At this point in the year anyways. Having said that, I don't think a GM is doing their job very well if they don't keep an eye on it and grab a player who they think they could fill a spot for someone who got injured in pre-season, or a good young talent who just needs some time to make a great team but could fit immediately on a weaker team.

This is one of the most common times of year for waiver claims, as players that weren't previously eligible for waivers go through the process for the first time.

Pike! Flames fan from Drumheller here. Can you do more frequent updates on the building, please? It’s a little too far and outta the way for me to come and check out progress on my own… I appreciate you! Ya do a bang up job with covering the Flames and everything else as well. I’m still holding out on buying your book, hoping to get ya to mail me a signed copy (I’ll cover the cost, of course!) If your interested, reply to this comment, and I’ll send you my email or phone number

This one definitely got to me. Never have I been emotional for a person passing in the sports world or entertainment until this happened. Seeing the support Calgarians showed at the dome made me tear up multiple times. I hoped that Johnny would return one day and retire as a Flame, I truly believe he knew how loved he was here. Rest in peace.

Looks horrible. Disgusting, hideous “MoDeRn” architecture. Literally all they had to do was build another Saddledome except 4-5,000 seats bigger. Instead we get some woke monstrosity. I will never set foot in that building. Dome or bust. Bust? So be it. Bust it is.

Does anyone have an opinion on the new arena has 800 seating less than the Saddledome? Doesn't that make it a bit harder to get seats?
