I have one from an aunt in my opinion great shape with stencils on the upper back. The bottom paper sticker ‘The Home of Windsor Chair has 69-6 on it . A circular Nicholstone All American carved in the bottom. My aunt said it was from 1937. Would that be accurate? Is that worth getting appraised? And how?

I worked for Dixie Furniture Factory in Lexington, NC which became Lexington Furniture & Lexington Home Brands. I started there in 1990 & we were still making furniture under the Dixie name. I can't remember when that ended but I'm thinking within a couple years of me starting there then they changed their name. I quit there in 2001 when we heard they were going to be closing the business down & possibly moving the business overseas. My brother was still working there in 2011 but the factories weren't producing furniture anymore. He worked moving stuff out of the warehouses & whatever else was involved with closing everything out

@VintageFurnitureGuideАй бұрын
if you open the hidden drawer enough to fit your hand on the top inside usually in the middle should be a wood clip or plastic that may need to push up as you pull or the mirror on top may have a nut stopping it and holding the mirror in place, so,etimes a good yank may also pull it out on more modern pieces

I found one today that has a paper label on the bottom, clearly quite old and its in pretty good condition, its a spindle chair with back bracing, rounded back, I cannot find anything online about it and not sure how to. Someone at some point put a coat of very dark stain over the piece, I plan to strip and refinish and keep it forever, I just love it!

I have a couple pieces of Drexel bedroom furniture that I acquired from my aunt when she passed. I believe I have the 'Biscayne' 8 drawer dresser (Mirror got broken during a move), a chest of drawers that has 3 long drawers at the bottom with 2 cabinets on the top. On the right side of the cabinet doors is a split level shelf, and on the left side it has 3 smaller drawers inside. I haven't been able to find this piece online anywhere. The only numbers I could find on the back were 2480 - 2 .854. I'm guessing the 854 represents it was manufactured in August of 1954. I also have a nightstand and a end table. All of it must be from the 50's and it's in really good shape. I've been thinking about selling but I'm not sure what price to ask for it. I'm not trying to get rich but I'm also not trying to short myself. Any suggestions?

I love my wild cherry wood bedroom suite, my grandmother bought it in the chicago area either in the 1940 or 1950', the dresser has 3 drawers on top and double side of 3 each, with large mirror, chest 2 small on top and 4 large drawers on bottom. On each side of desser and chest is scool work. The bed is cannon ball and typical of chippendale, bed is double. I wish it had come with night stands, I've looked but have never found any.

I just came from so many different KZbin pages….. these precious pieces are being found in thrift stores and they are being destroyed. Painted, cut down. I’ve never been so ashamed of peoples ignorance and low class before. I can’t tell you how many Haywood Wakefield hutches and even Temple Stuart’s I saw being chopped up, Chiseled, painted and stripped of their original beauty. I’m sorry, I could throw up. It was so horrifying.

@VintageFurnitureGuide Hello. Thank you for a very informative video. I have a Pennsylvania House oak secretary-style desk, and I'm trying to figure out if it was made in USA or somewhere else. It has four drawers on the bottom, with the top drawer being a bit shallower (in height) than the lower three drawers. It has a slanted hinged front that folds down to expose a desk surface, with three small drawers and some cubbyholes. The only brand marking I can find is a burned-in "Pennsylvania House" logo, burned into the left-hand inside piece of the top drawer. I can find no other labels or markings. Is it possible to tell if this piece was made in USA? It is very solid and seems to be well-built and well-finished. Some scuffs and scratches from previous owners. Thanks very much!
