My toddler son stopped and listened to this on our snowy, drive home. He was stock-still listening, mesmerized by the music he heard from his car chair. This was the perfect winter wonderland soundtrack.

Reading the comments, he seems to provoke a strong set of reactions, perhaps like Glenn Gould.

I am salivating!!! Not the tempo I choose on the initial part but it is for sure a master performance. Outstanding security of the left and right fingers; full mastery of the sound pallet. Has to be one of, if not, the best interpretation of this piece I have ever heard. Such a unique interpretation among other great performance of the same piece I have to say.

This reminds me of the silly gymnastic music that was coming out of Canberra guitar department in the 2000s. OK, your amazing... but can we hear the 'music' now?

I like it a lot ~ But I prefer a version with more colour in the A section and more propriety in the B section - even if it has flaws. This one has flaws too by the way. His triplets are more like a rolled chord, he misses the sustain of notes on the pivot to the B Major chord because he is going too fast. Some of the interpretation in the middle section is not conventional and notes are being added. He rushes through the descending B Phyrigian line in the B section even though it does sound really cool. Its very impressive though, definitely a 'virtuoso'... i think in the old days though he would taught a thing or two if he went to a masterclass with any one of the greats.

An amazing performance. It's a pity the microphone setup wasn't better. It sounds "thin". (That had nothing to do with Mr. Kuropaczewski's flawless playing.) I'm surprised to see he often utilizes his right-hand pinky to float over the top of the guitar to orient his right hand to the instrument. That's unusual for a classical player and is more often a technique of the "self-taught", such as Tommy Emmanuel. That's not meant as a criticism in any way, but rather just an observation. I just recently "discovered" Mr. Kuropaczewski (for myself), in a recent video (November 2024) on his philosophy on practicing. I became an instant fan! I love instructors whose advice can immediately be incorporated into our playing. (Classical pianist Nahre Sol is another purveyor of immediately absorbable musical insights... Check her out!)

Very nicely played of course, but I fear for his back. The posture of his back is not straight and tilted while playing. Will cause problems in the long run. Many other professional guitarists play with a straight back. Look at Thibaut Garcia for example he plays with a straight back and that is an attention point in the academy as well

@@dmunozkusterI kind of feel the same about it. It's fast but... why? The piece already sounds fast even when you are playing it slow. It reminds me of the very first thing I teach my drum students: "its a drum, its Already loud you don't need to hit / smash it. It must be 'played'. He does have very strong timbre production and projection.

The tempo is just right imho. Doesn't feel mechanical to me at all... but maybe even a little too emotional in the dynamics. Sounds like technical jelousy to me.

Yes, I know it can look impressive and one could think that he is a genius. Believe me...he is not. This is just hammered down into his fingers through hundreds if not thousands hours of practicing note by note and he can't change a single note in it 'cause if he does everything will fall apart and he will just stop playing. I bet that he doesn't even know what key he is in. I played classical guitar in this way myself for years including Asturias and many more . After playing it all the time .the same thing all over again and again, it became so automated that I could read a book playing these classical pieces simultaneously without even thinking about it. He is not a virtuoso I don't even perceive him as a musician at all. Pat Metheny is, Diango Reinhardt was and many more who actually can improvise spontaneously. Definitely...he can't. He is just a jukebox and nothing more.
