I'm so glad this song has resurfaced on KZbin ,I thought it was a lost gem.I saw the Start on tv here in Montreal on a show that was similar to American Bandstand but it was in French and they played Hey You .I bought the single that same week.But after 1981 they vanished from the media.

"I Believe In Sunshine" was originally recorded by Canadian band "A Passing Fancy" and made #28 in CHUM / #50 RPM in fall 1967. Madrigal had the bigger hit with their remake in 1970, perhaps due in part to the new CanCon regulations which promoted radio play for Canadian singles, so AM radio was scrambling for good Canadian pop.

Interestingly, songwriter Greg Hambleton produced both versions.

I got my copy, on vinyl, from e-Bay. You might try looking there, or on Discogs. I'm not sure if a CD version is available.

It's about when Scott worked at a cookware factory in Brantford. One of my favourites too. I put in 18 years of factory work life, three shifts. I can completely understand his point of view.

I was trying to stay true to the original version, but only on acoustic guitar, so it's obviously not going to sound like the original recording. I got Neil Chapman's blessing on this one. I was going through a rough time when I filmed this, so I look like absolute shit! That period of my life put about ten years on me. I have recovered somewhat! :-)

Very poignant. I am going to remember this one, and think of it sometimes when I am on the highway and I see a truck. There is a little boy or big boy who loves that truck driving man. And it's a dangerous job. Thanks for writing and sharing this one. A wonderful tribute to your dad.
@MartyMurray5 ай бұрын
Actually the song is not about my dad, but the father of a friend, and a man I knew fairly well. He had attempted to retire, but had to go back to work because he needed the money, and unfortunately his health got the better of him after only a few months.

I've seen Goddo live over 1000 times and never once saw them play this. Probably because it's one of their worst. On the other hand I've seen them play the "B" side (Homemade Lady) several times. Both are probably Fludd leftovers...

Hey there! Awesome 45 capture. My question may seem a bit ridiculous but I'm trying to confirm something. Is this an actual capture from the original 45 vinyl record or is this off a CD release with vinyl crackles digitally added in? I had recently tossed on some headphones for the original CD Single and I was hearing in the opening 10 seconds or so some interesting anomalies in the left channel popping up. I'm hearing the exact same thing from your 45 capture here. Just wondering if this is an authentic 45 capture. If so, then what I'm hearing on the CD is actually in the mix and not an otherwise mastering flaw on the CD. Interesting stuff. The 06 Deluxe set has the same anomaly too. I don't have the 2017 set yet so not sure if they went in and corrected it.

Yes, this is right off the original 45 disc, that came in the sleeve that is pictured - I scanned that also.
