What’s the alternative to calling out? So if you need a day off, do you just trade shifts or gift a shift in order to avoid a point? What if you get sick right before a shift?
@haleyshappyeverafter3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tracey, you can definitely trade shifts or give them away to avoid a point (unless things have changed since 2019). If you are unable to find someone to take your shift, you can call your leader to see if there's anything they can do to help you out, but more often than not you'll need to call out. I do believe their point system may have changed since this video has been posted, so always check with your coordinators and leaders to get the most current information. Hope this helps a little.

Just a couple questions. 1. Did you have to dump the trash out of those huge 80 pound tilt truck carts? How was that done? 2. Did you have to sort recyclables?
@haleyshappyeverafter6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's easier than you'd think :) They show you how it works in training. Recycling is separated into a different bin.

I worked custodial at Hollywood Studios as well! I was a trainer before my CP ended in December. I loved it there and miss some of the best coordinators and coworkers that are still there.

Just got part-time in Custodial at World Showcase and your vlogs have been very helpful in learning what I'll be doing. I'm really excited to start in a couple weeks! Hope you're enjoying Hollywood Studios, I did my second CP there at The Great Movie Ride and it was a very interesting park to work in. Best of luck!

Are there specific times when you're allowed to clean the bathroom? Like times you have to close it off to people?
@haleyshappyeverafter6 жыл бұрын
If you are scheduled a restroom shift you'll just be assigned to one or two specific restrooms for the day. There is a certain time frame that you cant leave the bathroom unattended, but there isn't a 'specific' time when you have to clean the restroom. The restrooms also will not get closed off to guests just to clean them, there are times when barely anyone is in the restroom and that's the best time to clean them and restock them. The only time the restroom may be closed off is if there is an overflow or something along those lines. Restroom shifts are usually pretty chill. :)

How does it work to switch shifts?
@haleyshappyeverafter6 жыл бұрын
Once you get access to Disney's cast member "Hub" you can switch shifts with somebody. Typically you post the shifts you want to trade on the Custodial shift exchange page on Facebook and wait and see who replies.

When you were in Illinois by the Arch, I'd say you were fairly close to where I call home. It's a lovely landmark and changes with the light of day. But you had a mission to get to WDW--and I totally understand!

When mom and I would visit Sea World we loved the Dolphin show, the Shamu show and seal and otter show. I don't know the name of the ride but it is a water ride where the boat takes a big plunge down a hill kinda like splash mountain at mk. We both never rode any of the rides our selves because mom would never put her stuff in a locker. (long story). Another awesome vlog Haley.

Love your vlogs!! I am going to be Custodial (not sure what location yet!) and I am so excited! I arrive Aug 21st! What are some of you favorite and least favorite parts of the job?
@haleyshappyeverafter7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! :) Custodial is an amazing role to get so congrats!! :D I worked in the World Showcase and I couldn't have been happier with where I was placed. You'll have to let me know where you get placed since I have a few friends that work in different parks and stuff and you may be working with them! :) I would say the best part of the role is the ability to have independence, but still have help when needed. I loved having lots of guest interactions (99% were positive). My roommates had different roles where they had to deal with rude and upset guests constantly so I am very glad that I didn't have that at all! :) I also liked being able to work outside and being able to move around as I pleased. The tasks weren't difficult and if you ever get stressed your coworkers and managers are always willing to help out. On busier days they will assign more people to an area so it doesn't get too stressful ever. I had an amazing relationship with my coworkers and that is also one of my favorite parts of this role. ( I have many more good things to say about this role, but there's a few! :) ) I really don't have anything that I didn't like about this role. Of course there are occasions were you might have to clean up something that is "gross", but even those situations aren't bad at all. They will show you how things are supposed to be cleaned and it's pretty simple- also you can always ask for assistance to clean or do something. When it got to be around 100+ with humidity it could be kind of challenging to work in, but they are very understanding with this and they make sure you are drinking plenty of water and that you take breaks when needed. Another small thing that could get kind of challenging is pushing the banana boats (what we put garbage in for trash runs) through heavy crowds. Sorry this is so long! The most important thing with this role is to always have a positive outlook, the ones who didn't had a little bit tougher time with the role. I hope this helps! :)
