I have a 1998 Harley Davidson Dyna fxdl lowrider as I go to start the bike or makes a terrible noise until it starts I was told it needed a new compensator does that sound like that would be true or could it be that the nut is loose. Thanks

Hey man I know this is 3 years old as I write this but that was the best video yet of how to change out the cams plate and other parts. You took the time to break things down and didn't jump steps with loud music in the background. Please keep these videos coming and keep actually explaining how to step by step. I own an older 103 and want to upgrade hope it's not much different than your video. Thanks.

How much primary oil does it take for a 2007 softail classic if I take the cover off I have a oem manual and it just says to charge it takes about 32 ounces but it doesn’t say how much oil it takes if I take the cover off

I have a man o war and its so loud that the noise outweighs any benefits. Same setup gary had psr tensioner. I replaced with stock stuff and works fine. If anyone wants my man o war and psr tensioner i will let both go for 500.

I don't care for that tappet-cuff design at all. The pre-TC design with the notches machined into the blocks to align the tappets is much simpler.

It’s a shame people spend a lot of money on Harley Davidson when they buy them just to find out Harley Davidson put junk parts in these very expensive motorcycles I mean, don’t give me wrong. I’m glad that other companies out there making better products but the thing is the customer shouldn’t have to worry about that these bikes should be made top of the line. The prices that people are paying it’s absurd.

So why doesn’t Harley do a recall and get it fixed and be honorable? Why are they making the consumers spend money?

So we didn’t check alignment of the chain gears and we didn’t gauge the lifter cuffs for clearance on lifters?

I called Dark Horse just now about the factory compensator bolt versus the Screamin Eagle Torx bolt and they said the Torx bolt from the SE assembly will work just fine. Their customer support is top notch.

Great video, I gave a 2014 ultra Limited and just started to hear a noise on my primary, only when I accelerate and decelerate on a cruising speed like in 4tg gear, it is some kind of clunking sound when I open and release the throttle, any idea, I appreciate your help. Thank you

Very informative, I upgraded my SE compensator with a Fueling upgraded spring and a SE manual primary chain adjuster which was cheaper than a full rebuild as my wear was minimal, I also, when the bike is level visually fill the primary so the oil just kisses the lower portion of the pressure plate, this works well for me

Ive worked on Harleys for a living. Im 65 years young now. You hit the mark on your video. Every procedure was shown well on the video and your commentary was dead nut on . Nothing missed. Very informative. A 12 year old could follow your direction. Good job ol chap. Carry on.

I'm new to Harley bikes. I'm a dirt bike rider since very young, and for a long time now been wanting to ride the roads. So last year, July 2023, purchased the 2023 Street Glide 107 FLHX. My question is what should I be aware of?? You know, what areas to constantly check that loosen up or wear due to these bikes? Recently, thru inspecting the brakes, I came across the front rotors had loosened. So things like that. Thank you!

Your warranty will be void if S&S parts are installed. Personally, I wouldn't care because the dealer will never know the S&S parts are installed if they don't pull the cover off. I can't believe we are still dealing with this cam plate bullsht after 25 years.

I know this post is old but I was wondering if you could put all the links to the parts you installed in the description part. This would be so helpful for us non mechanics to order. Great video! I feel like I can change these parts out myself now. New subscriber!

Your math is a little off, a quart of oil is 32 ounces, plus your 7 ounces you added equals 39 ounces, your primary is 6 ounces low on oil.

I heard that you cannot use it on all harleys. It seems that the allighning with the clutchbox must be perfect. Also the runout munst be not more than x/1000e. Or the darkhorse could be damaged. And result in a lot noice . Im not a mechanic, but could the whole operation be done in 2 hour ?
