In Ca. Go to EMT School, get some ambulance experience, get an AA degree in fire science, put yourself through an accredited fire academy, work for Cal-Fire or Forest Service, go to Paramedic School, you can write your ticket to any Department you’d like to work for! Work hard, put in the time and effort to get hired, good luck!

U.S. Coast Guard (0.02% of Americans who hold this tittle), Master's Degree (Wasn't that important for ADVANCED careers, like the ones that develop, create, and manufacture the tools and equipment Emergency Services utilize?) Gov't: "What else ya got?"

My husband was on our local fire. Department, after a couple years, he decided to walk away because everything that he had seen and experience took an emotional toll on him, especially when it came to children. Now he's talking about wanting to get back into it and I'm. Extremely against it because if something were to happen to him. That will change my life. And I've noticed spouses of law enforcement firefighting military. They always say oh, you need. Anything will be there, but when they reach out because they're struggling with bills or medical or this that the third no 1's to be found. Are they get told sorry we can't do anything. You guys talk and act like it's a family this that the third, but in reality it's not. And that's exactly what I told my husband i'm not Okay, with him taking a job. Where he can be fatally injured.

If a fireman gets injured it's NOT the responsibly of his mates at the department to club in for his treatment! It's the stupid American health system that is at fault! ALL modern countries in the world have free (tax paid) health care for EVERYONE in the country …. rich or poor! You lot are simply brainwashed to think your health system is the best way to go ….. you pay thousands more than anyone else in the world!!!

Here's my problem. I passed cpat, I passed civil service test with a 91%, I am an emt and voluntary firefighter, I wore a suit to the panel interview and did a great job. I was told the department was only hiring 3 people out of the 5 that were being interviewed. I never got a call back even after calling to ask about my application status. One of the guys that was hired instead can't even drive since he's on sr22 insurance BUT his dad is the chief of police. The other guy that got hired is a pot head from a local factory BUT his uncle works on the department. The third guy deserved to get the job but I clearly got pushed aside for some serious bs.

I feel you man. Don’t worry you’ll get on just have to keep trying. You got it 👍
@aktideracer8710Ай бұрын
Keep trying, regardless of how you didn’t get the job doesn’t matter. Look at it as an opportunity to better yourself and be an even better candidate the next year. A lot of times it takes a few tries to achieve the goals you want in life. Like myself for example, this is my 3rd year trying and I passed the tests every time. I may not even get it this year, but I’m going to keep trying and doing what I can. Don’t let the lack of success bother you, only failure should bother you and you didn’t fail.

You need training and qualified staff to direct you. You need to know CPR with advanced training. You need dedication and protection for yourself. Be glad you have what it takes, because, others don't.

Thanks for the video, my test is next week. I am the least qualified as far as experience is concerned but I am putting in my best effort. I am the old guy out there and plan on showing these boys what I can do.

I think it's good they do a practice CPAT test for women, because 90% of women who think they can do the job, actually can't do the job..The test will give them just a taste of how physically demanding the job is. Having said that, I've worked with many female firefighters who were in shape, were great firefighters, and put the work in to do the job.

This is like a young cadet program? Or this is the actual fire academy recruits? just wondering because I didn’t see anyone head shaved (like LAPD recruits do). Does LAFD not make you shave your head like LAPD or the marines do?

No. Hair has to be a certain length, but getting buzzed isn’t mandatory.

What a great, inspiring interview. I mean them are some beautiful strong women up there I hope my daughter grows up one and become something of that nature. For the ladies that have the kids I didn’t hear anything about a father being involved but I applaud them for not making any excuses. I am a father that’s pursuing a career in fire and I no longer am with my child’s mother’s. The sense of not being there sucks but I do my best to be present when I am there. Once I’m able to sign that contract I know it’ll change my life and my kids and it will definitely be worth the struggle!
