i know I am late to this conversation, but is there a possible connection between The Garden in Destiny and the garden mentioned in the Marathon Infinity terminal?

The game is really nice, my only complaint is the contrasting art. The cover art is awesome, the animation art is nice but make me question if that is the same Konoko as the cover art, and lastly the still image art in game which is serviceable but makes me wonder if they have 3 different artist for this game.

I really wish someone could pick the brains of some of the old Bungie crew and get some insight on this more Marathon Aligned version of Halo Combat Evolved that was clearly in the works during the late 90s. The more I come to learn about Marathon and Halo’s origins, the more I come to realize that the Halo we received is a false shadow of what it possibly could’ve been. This hypothetical Halo Prime could’ve had some truly mind breaking story beats. Stuff that could rival Marathon Infinity. It’d be truly incredible to bring this vision of Halo to life. Expand further on this recurring hero concept, go all in on a truly trans-cosmic scale and go into more detail on that borderline theological concept of the beings in the Garden at the Beginning of the World (not the one in Genesis as Marathon so comically explains). The more I think about it and after writing this down, the more I’m starting to think that was the intention behind Destiny. I’m going to have to cut this thought line here before it gets too absurd. In any case I’m obsessed with what could’ve been when it comes to Marathon and I feel mild annoyance when I remember we’re getting a new Marathon that’s an extraction shooter with no singleplayer elements.

This video just put a lot of what I'm researching and decoding into perspective. I've put some major links together going back to Marathon and PiD. The Jaro/Ark/Vex link is insane. My hats off too you for this. This is the kind of stuff I've been wrapped up into since I started playing Halo. I had no idea about Marathon until years and years later. Let alone the deep story. Its not easy to decode Bungies games and their stories. I compare it to Stanley Kubrick films, that ironically Bungies games pay a strong homage to. Something that never clicked until now was this connection between the Vex and "Guardians." I'll explain that in a moment. The huge sync here is Panoptes, The Infinite Mind and how he actually looks like the Guardians we see in Halo 5. Two words that keep coming back are BEYOND & INFINTY (yes the Buzz Lightyear kind). Now I just saw this lore transcription from D2 a few days ago. The name immediately stood out to me. Besides the obvious dark future reference's I hadn't exactly caught what was being implied here. Especially with the title of the mission. I thought there would be more here. Your 4 year old video had already pieced it together lol. >>www.ishtar-collective.net/transcripts/beyond-infinity<< Panoptes is a "Guardian". And not just a Halo 5 kinda "Guardian". Don't you think its a little weird D1 came out just 1 year before Halo 5? And the first mission in Halo 5 is called Osiris? Osiris who runs around the Infinite Forest, traveling timelines and fighting The Vex. In Greek Mythology Argus Panoptes is the Watcher of the nymph Io. He is killed by Hermes (Mercury). "And set a watcher upon her, great and strong Argus, who with four eyes looks every way. And the goddess stirred in him unwearying strength: sleep never fell upon his eyes; but he kept sure watch always." "Another Whisper, sir. Near Io." -Cortana, Halo 2 The first place we go after the cutscene in the mission Beyond Infinity to find Panoptes is Io. The word guardian means watcher. One who watches the dead. Protects over them. Its rooted right back into the Watchers from the Old Testament. Guardians, Angels. Guardian Angels. Gardeners. They came from "The Garden" -guardian (n.) "one who guards," early 14c., garden; early 15c., gardein, from Anglo-French gardein (late 13c.), Old French gardien "keeper, custodian," earlier guarden, from Frankish *warding-, from the Germanic source of guard (v.). Specific legal sense is from 1510s. Guardian angel is from 1630s. -watch (v.) Old English wæccan "keep watch, be awake," from Proto-Germanic *wakjan, from PIE root *weg- "to be strong, be lively." Essentially the same word as Old English wacian "be or remain awake" (see wake (v.)); perhaps a Northumbrian form of it. Meaning "be vigilant" is from c. 1200. That of "to guard (someone or some place), stand guard" is late 14c. Sense of "to observe, keep under observance" is mid-15c. (wæccan/wakjan= W'rkncacnter/Dreaming God/Traveler kind vibes) Here's a lore tab called Brass Gardeners from the Inspiral lore book: >www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/brass-gardeners< With the end of Act II of Echoes, and with this new information, I started to put this idea together that our guardian at some points dies, yes, we know this. But how do we fit back into the puzzle afterwards? What role does the Vex and Elsie Bray still have to play from the original story beat. And most Importantly, why us? How do the guardians from these two universes as well as Marathon combine? I think we are the Vex. Pure speculation here but at some point we die and become part of the collective. And are born again without the need for a ghost to revive us and with no boundaries to our powers (cough D3. sorry something in my throat.) We are the Last Knife. The blade that cuts through time and space. We are the sword. The hand that carries out the sword logic. We become the very thing we end up fighting. The Vex, Durandal, The Guardians. Are we the Gardener, The Winnower. Both or neither? Something else? The Sword/Knife? Your video is the cherry on top of this little theory. I'll you with one more lore entry from Inspiral: Winnowing A dream of a friendly conversation with someone impossible to see, cloaked in shadows. It leaves behind an impossible data fragment to mark its passing. Here is what a flower knows. (The fact that a flower may know anything is a conceit that will have to be accepted as metaphor, but to constantly qualify into perfect precision wears thin, does it not? So, here is what a collection of chloroplasts and pigment can know.) The direction of the sun. The presence of the rain. The tangle of the roots. The distress of another plant. The hands of the gardener, whether they prune or transplant or crush. A flower cannot know much else. But the reality of the garden is vast and wild. A flower knows not the fence; a flower knows not the footpath. And yet there is an infinite cosmic garden, which is not any less real simply because the flower cannot possibly comprehend it… Let us try this again. Stop me if you've heard this one: A gardener and a winnower sit down to play a game outside of time and creation. Yes? Yes. Then we're agreed. The metaphor stands. Let us iterate. A gardener and a winnower set out their chairs and play a game of flowers. The flowers know only that they grow or wither, struggle or flourish. Sometimes, they are touched by one hand or the other, and that influence is the closest they will know of the divine. A flower and a flower spread their leaves to the sun above. (Remember that the sun is also a metaphor: a thing said beautifully, winnowed down to poetry, when the truth is too vast to put in words at all.) They jostle for space, each competing to be the pinnacle of their shape. One flourishes. One withers. Is it the fault of the flower or the fault of its position? A gardener and a winnower sit down to play a game called Possibility. This is a game about a garden, which is to say that it is also a game about flowers, just as a game about a living being must also be a game about organs and bacteria. A gardener and a winnower collaborate to create a protein. Whose hand is it in the design, that shortens one life to extend the rest? It is the winnower that discovers the first knife, but it is not done without the gardener. This, too, is a tradition: a knife does not come to exist without something that must be cut. A woody stem, a colored petal, a vital vessel. The first victims of the blade. All of these are true. All of these are false, for metaphor simplifies as the knife does. It pares incalculable concepts into shapes your wrinkly little brains can comprehend. The weight of billions and the simple curve of a planet give you pause, and how then are you to be expected to grasp the forces that created your nth-removed creator? So the stories woven with utmost delicacy in and around the falsehoods are, after it all, true. There was never any option for the knife to not exist in the garden: it was only ever a matter of time and opportunity. And as for the shape of the knife itself- No. That is enough. I will tell you of gardens. They are domesticated things, made in a form. As soon as something is called a garden, it is shaped. The plants require the hand of a gardener, for they have become weak and dependent on tender care. They require the hand of a winnower, to cut away the dross, for they are too incapable to do it themselves. In absence of a hand, either the flowers themselves must rise up to wield the knife, or the garden will resolve to meaningless wilderness. You will say, "But there are plants that can walk! There are seeds that must be scorched by fire to know growth! Existence is more complex than a simple dichotomy between growth and withering, and there is more in heaven and on earth than is dreamt of in this philosophy!" And I will tell you, clearly: There can be no gardens without knives.

I think they acquired them post Microsoft exit. They made a lot from ODST and Halo Reach. There were copyright documents filed in 09 and 2011. That seemingly suggest Bungie owns the rights to Myth 1 and 2.
