Reading the comments below makes me feel slightly better. For some reason, my parents let me watch this when I was 11 and this scene, along with the dude in the effing rocking chair, scared the living shit out of me. I mean, it had an effect on me literally for years. Appears I'm far from alone....

This guy (the older one) in real life later became a convicted paedophile. Why are we still using him for our entertainment?

Instant nightmares when I was a kid, had my window blinds consistently closed tight every night, with a night light on.

I read 'Salem's Lot' one time when I was staying at a hotel in Singapore. I was deep into reading a scene like this when my phone rang and the shock jumped me right off the bed. Thank you Mr King.

The vampire kid should really just close its eyes when the cross comes out, no need to do all that hand waving.

The funniest bit is, Albert - Wilford Bramble played the part beautifully as a dirty old man always looking for “crumpet” as the English slang for “it” was! Fact is he was as gay as could be at a time when it was not only frowned upon but actually illegal - in fact he got arrested propositioning a young man in a restroom in the very early days of the program , Shows what an amazing actor he was two show a persona of a rampant dirty old heterosexual man LOL

@@fran-kittyayers5329 yes he was actually well educated Irish descent if you ever heard him interviewed or he did some characters where he played upper-class people he realise what an amazing job he did to play scruffy old Albert the opposite end of his personality and class and equally his life preferences and yet he was so completely believable in that role shows what an amazing talent he had

I cannot come up with the words to describe what this film did to me when I was a kid. I am now a 55 year old man and have not kept the drapes, or blinds, open when I go to bed for as long as I can remember, and I suspect I never will. Absolutely terrifying scene, and well acted.
