Can you tell me how long that tractor was sitting for (if at all) was it running before restoration? I have one lying up for 40 years and I'm trying to get an idea of what condition it might be in inside after lying outside. Just wondering would it even be worth opening.
@dgautomotivefabrications58173 жыл бұрын
damo690 this one was lying in a hedge for about 30 years Someone had taken it out and took the head off messed with the timing to try and get it running I bought it and stripped it all down I was 14 at the time so couldn’t afford to rebuild the engine ie bottom end So I cleaned up the head , valves and bores Did the timing and eventually got it running However I It was breathing heavily and really did need a rebuild but after a year I had finished doing all the hydraulics rebuilt the gearbox and steering ect and by the time I was 16 I bought an engine rebuild kit and fully rebuilt the engine had the head skimmed crank ground everything new including oil pump new clutch bearings everything By the time I finished it it had the best compression I’ve ever seen Bled it all gave it a few turnovers by hand and fired straight up no problem at all Only restored it as it was a massive learning curve

A TEF-20 will never start as quick as this from cold, I think the engine had been running shortly before you made the video.....a start up from cold would require 1) Press in the cold start button. 2) Ki-gas it up. 3) Heater plugs. 4) Decompression lever down. 5) Lords prayer and she may start.

Your Governor and weight springs needs attention....easy and quick to do.
@niallrabbitte56254 жыл бұрын
Check the pipe from the governor to the throttle by removing the pipe, covering the outlet of the governor with a finger, pulling the stop and check if the stop remains out. If not the diaphragm may be bad. If that's OK check the control rod, which is the toothed rod visible when the inspection cover is removed.

They originally came with 4.00 x 19 but many people put the larger wheels on as they don't sink or tear up ground as badly. It's quite interesting to see the transformation of the tractor from when you first got it to what it is now. Keep up the great videos

It's all coming together nicely, well done is the oil leaking from a small hole on the bell housing if it is don't block it up because the oil will damage the clutch , the tractor may have to be split to put in a new oil seal , looking forward to seeing the new update best of luck.
