Thanks Tom, very useful and straightforward feedback on your trip. I'm going there for a couple of month as digital nomad and you gave me great insights and basic tips and tricks. Great job on your videos, very helpful. All the best !

Stop complaining, Come and take the train from Poland to Ukraine or Roumania to Hungary you will understand how lucky you are.

Good video. I disagree with you slightly about speaking English. I found a good number of young Tunisians could speak basic English. I guess it's thanks to social media and interacting with westerners online.

Thank you Tom, you are a trail blazer for us. You have a very easy, 'listen to voice', very easy on the ear...We are here right now at Hammam Souse in our Sprinter offgrid Campervan, on our way to El Jem in an hour or so....What has struck us as so different so far, is the white powder sand here, absolutely fabulous, and so totally different from northern med shores. People are wonderful. A bit of begging, but heyho, we give, and they smile and lots of big thank you's. We are vanlifers, so a few things to find out, as only been here a week of our 3 month tour. We got around the closed currency with a local friend. He gave us cash dinar and we transfered euro into his Wise account from ours. Rate of the day, no commissions. We have our 'Wheely Living' youtube channel, reflecting our life over 4 years on the road. We are both in our 70's and loving every minute. Very best wishes to you.. :)

German railways used to have a good reputation didn't they? When did it all go wrong. Physically what is the distance? Very cheap.

We had exactly the same border crossing experience but in the opposite direction, from Hungary into Romania, 20 years ago. Sorry to hear it’s still long and slow. The beautiful travel through the Romanian countryside is worth the discomforts, though!

Good and very informative review and Im glad having stumbled upon your channel though I still think ÖBB deserves a bit more credit for their efforts in our car-centered western world. I wonder how much would 1000km in the UK cost and what kind of seat would you get? How far can you even go for €130 in the UK by train?

Used it once to drive from Vienna to Innsbruck it was cheaper then the normal ride and the stuff was friendly. The only thing that bothered me was that my (not really large) Suitcase didn't fit into the lockable place for it and you can't take it inside your cabin because then you have no space left. Stuff was friendly

Bus companies (transit, intercity, etc.) should add GYROSCOPIC TRANSPORT cars to their fleets. (SEE videos on "Gyrocar Tesla" Dahir Insaat--a Turkish company.) Gyrocars are the future of public transport, because they meet ALL GREEN TRANSPORT POLICIES for the near future and are better than trains and buses at navigating through heavy traffic. (NOTABLY: Gyroscopic Transport can save lives. Dahir Insaat proposes a FIRETRUCK GYROCAR with a VTOL aircraft drone [that could fly Firemen vertically upwards to rooms in tall skyscrapers, extinguish fires, and extend a ladder to rescue survivors in mid-air.)

I used Airelo in Central America on a recent trip. I found it didn’t work. It was a waste of $30 CAD. Never using them again.

And, an absolute bargain considering that you would have paid quite a bit for a decent hotel room had you flown, had to deal with the cost and hassle of getting to and from the airport, not to mention the pain of flying these days, plus a basic but filling and decent breakfast. Of course you lucked out with no roommates.

Perhaps the most important things you can take with you on a long and especially overnight train trip is snacks, drinks and even a meal or two (that won't spoil, of course). It might also be a good idea to carry a thermal mug that you fill with hot coffee or tea before you board the train, in case they're out of coffee, it's not very good, or you need more than a small cup of it. Makes all the difference, as aside from noise and the movement of the train, being hungry or thirsty is a major reason for not being able to sleep on a train. Also, a good eye mask and ear plugs, and perhaps even noise canceling headphones if it's really noisy.

130€ isn't cheap but for a bit of sleep and covering such a long distance, I'd do it

Would you say those capsules would be okay to use for a person around your height but with more kilos, say a woman with more fat around the belly and bum area but still able to fit in a bus seat? Cause that's the concern I have, that it's too small for bigger bodies.

Take that ferry to Ceuta. That's cool place. Mixed culture with Spain and Morocco, weird religions, EU-Morocco borderline etc. And not touristy like Gibraltar definitely is...

Weird, uneasy vibes. A stuffy, too short capsule. Pillow scraps. Waking up sweating. Two hours of sleep. Staff??? Awful (for me, non-existent). Noisy people. Anyway, you summarized the dire consequences of booking one of these coffins.

I travelled from Tarifa, Spain to Tangier, Morocco in 2007. I was staying in Nerja at the time so had to take a coach to Tarifa. The trip to Morocco was amazing. It was my first time in Africa. Even though it was only a day trip, its one I'll never forget.

we took the same ferry from Morocco and the process was much smoother. I agree that the trip from Tangier to the ferry port is beautiful and should itself be considered an integral part of the journey.
