Just a question how can I time when to start engine 2 that when it is avail and i have at least 2 minutes taxi before takeoff

Thats nicely executed. Don' t forget to deselect your ECAM page whenever u don' t need it anymore to ensure the correct ECAM page automatically opens when necessary👍

I recently saw a 737 pilot press the MCP approach button while doing an rnav approach runway 28 Gmmx Airport. now I understand why because it seemed strange to me since I saw that it was not an ILS approach

6:43 why would you turn off the elec pump before the engine is available to pressurise the hydraulic system? wouldn’t that just depressurise the system when you move the flight controls?
@academicaviation4436 Жыл бұрын
I think that because both pressure from elec pump on and eng 2 may overcharge the hyd system. And if you turn off the elec pump the ptu will work to pressurise the remaining hyd system

@serdaryilmaz61912 жыл бұрын
Very well explained. Just one thing though. Flight control checks needs to be done BEFORE arming auto brake. Great video
@flightsimguides85332 жыл бұрын
Thank you, and you're quite right. Not quite sure why that is, but I've added another addendum in the comments section.
@serdaryilmaz61912 жыл бұрын
My assumption is; if there is a strong headwind and you decide to do flight control checks, and if the IAS exceeds 72 knots, autobrake might arm itself during taxi due to spoiler extension. Im not sure if auto brake takes speed from GS or IAS. Im just having a silly guess, might have go try in the sim
@germantobon54982 жыл бұрын
Correct, auto brake logic depends on spoilers, that’s why after flight control checks, I wait for spoilers to retract and that is my trigger to arm the auto brakes and test takeoff config

New update for some weird reason doesnt allow single engine taxi in a manner that keeps the plane straight without having to give it rudder or tiller inputs.

Nice video, how come after the 1st engine is started, the PTU doesn't 'bark' when a S/E taxi is being performed? See my video kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJS7ZJajgKZpbbM&t (skip to 2:40). But it 'barks' after the first start on a normal taxi? The PTU is always switched on, correct? Cheers.
@germantobon54982 жыл бұрын
The PTU runs a 5 second self test during second engine start.

@@germantobon5498 but in the video I linked it runs without the 2nd engine being started. Is this to give hydraulic press to the brakes, steering ect?

I could perfectly hear how the yellow hydraulic system electric pump was turned off in order to test the PTU giving way to the star of engine number 2

just a quick one does the x bleed not act the place of the apu bleed reason i ask is if u have no apu bleed on u cant start engine but with x bleed on and apu bleed off the engine will still start
@flightsimguides85333 жыл бұрын
A very good question and the answer really is no. In the single engine taxi procedure, the crossbleed is only used to supply the packs during the taxi for passenger comfort. If you are operating for one of the numerous companies that taxi out with pack 2 off, you could just leave the crossbleed in auto. You always want to try and use the APU bleed for engine start if possible because it's powerful and supplies plenty of pressure at the start valve to get the engine rotating; bleed pressure from a running engine is not as powerful and sometimes requires you to increase the EPR/N1 on the running engine to supply sufficient pressure, which is not ideal.

From a fellow airline pilot: I think you have been doing a very nice job showing worthy technical stuff and a good glimpse at what operating an airliner is. I also wonder why you haven’t received more attention compared to some other channels. I guess it must be the same reason why classical music is played around midnight on the main tv channels while reality shows thrive in prime time... a lot of people watch and don’t really want to learn. You can tell that most sim pilots haven’t really read flight ops manuals or tech papers. Eye candy is ruling.
@flightsimguides85334 жыл бұрын
Thank you for those kind words, although I must hasten to add I’m not an an airline pilot; I hope to start training as one shortly. I just wanted to create a channel that would help people make their sim experience as realistic as possible, and also just to share this stuff as an enthusiast, as I find it all very interesting. I’m not a good enough editor to make eye candy on the channel unfortunately, so I shall always lose out in that regard 😄 I hope some people get enjoyment out of the videos though.

Hey. Great videos! The systems videos were great. Really looking forward to flying the Dash8. Could you try to upload some videos of flights dealing with malfunctions and non-normal situation such as an engine failure on takeoff, a dual Hyd system failure & a loss of DC power situation? They’d be helpful. Cheers!

Brilliant glad it was of use. Yes the Q400 FMC will automatically calculate and fly the correct hold entry, but it’s worth verifying the one generated is the correct one just in case.

hey bit late sorry but how do you know what minima to fly to as lnav minima you can still fly vnav with it but for lnav vnav you have to use vnav . the LNAV/ VNAV is an approach with vertical guidance and the LNAV is a non precision approach. so can you set the lower of the two minima then if your going to use vnav also can you fly the approach using IAN for both lnav and lnav vnav RNP approaches ? sprry its a bit wordy great vid !
@flightsimguides85334 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom if I have understood your question correctly there should be separate minima for performing the approach in LNAV/VNAV and LNAV only (with the vertical trajectory flown in V/S mode or FPA in the Airbus). The IAN feature, off the top of my head, would only be for LNAV/VNAV approaches (haven’t used the 737 for a long time). BTW even LNAV/VNAV approaches are technically non-precision, the only precision approach, in practice, is the ILS. As for RNP approaches, I don’t think many European operators are certified to perform them, so a little outside my knowledge. Hope that helps.

My question is, if take off was rejected due to engine one failure, is the captain allowed to taxi in using engine two. If not plz explain why? Thks in advance.
@flightsimguides85334 жыл бұрын
You could technically do that in those circumstances, although if you rejected the takeoff the aircraft likely to be quite heavy and it may be that the captain were not happy to taxi single engine anyway, and may ask to be towed back to stand. In normal circumstances Engine 1 is used in conjunction with the Yellow Elec pump to avoid use of the PTU.
