@TheMasterNathan25 Good you managed to get all the side quests done, that was my main concern myself with this playthrough, that I would forget about a side quest lol. If you got the achievements for them it means I didn't miss any! The next game in the series that I'll take on will be Escape Dead Island, which will come in the future

Great playthrough enjoyed it alot in my first run I didn't see the Harlow betrayal coming I agree alot more challenging then the first one I thought the first one has better story missions.

@m3division235 Eventually yes but it won't be for a few years. The main reason for that is that my computer is old and can't run it well enough for a KZbin playthrough. As I'm still a student, I can't really upgrade it until I finish my studies in a few years. Also I'm going through the series in release order, so I'll be doing Escape Dead Island first and then Retro Revenge.

Thank you! I try and get as many as I can because I'm a collector and completionist in games! I won't get all of them because I don't remember all the locations for everything, but the main ones I like to focus on with Riptide and the first game is the audio collectibles.

If you pay attention to the 7:59 Mark of the video you can see the map of Banoi in the back ground is slightly different at the bottom left of it there’s a big inlet of water vs it’s usually a small inlet.

If I have any complaints, based on gameplay, it would of been nice if the other Dead Island survivors (that is, the main 4) would be with the Player Character, much like in Left 4 Dead.

Yeah, I always thought it was strange how we see them in the cutscenes, and NPCs talk like all four of them were present, but never in the gameplay. One of the good things Riptide did was it brought the other heroes into the actual gameplay so you could see them.

@@legodude494 Yeah. I mean, they are supposed to be a team, but they don't fight together. I mean, I can see them having their Signature Weapons that they use as a basic means to fight. But, I would borrow something from Dead Rising: Case West, where the PC could give their AI companion additional weapons that they could use.

@@lockwoan01 No, they stay in a certain safehouse and move as the story progresses. They help fight in certain quests when zombies attack the safehouse, but that's it. You can see it in my Riptide playthrough

I should really, at least in Riptide where the firearms were buffed, though I always worry about running out of ammo lol. I also just much prefer the melee combat and mod in the game over firearms. You can blame it on the first game where firearms were just really bad so I never used them, and I've kept that mindset ever since XD

As for Sam B skills, Under the combat tree I would invest in Lights Out, Exploit Weakness (prioritise), Charge, Hammer blows (prioritise), Aimed Shots, and Telling Blows (prioritise). Under the survival tree I would invest in Last Stand (don't invest in rebirth tier 3, not worth it imo - Last Stand is a GREAT skill to have - it's part of what makes Sam B a fantastic tank). Charge is slightly less useful on Sam B than other characters, purely because of his poor stamina management but it's still a GREAT skill for all characters regardless of stamina consumption. I would also highly recommend investing in Sam B's Fury tree to at least unlock his Group Fury ability, which gives him a bonus 70% crit chance for 60 seconds (WHICH IS CRAZY BTW).

I'll keep these things in mind, though I will say that these episodes are all pre-recorded now so if I take any of these skills it'll be by chance that you see them! I never take fury skills because I always forget I have the ability and end up never using it, so it's a waste of skill points for me because I just always forget it exists!

Another great video! Quick note: At 9:15 you mentioned that using the flare gun gets you some firearm XP, but flare guns, harpoons, nail guns, and stun guns are all classed as unique weapons in Riptide and do not benefit from firearm-related skills - I'm pretty sure this also means they don't earn you firearm weapon proficiency XP but I could be wrong.

They are counted as special weapons, but I believe they all contribute to the proficiency XP. In the early parts of the playthrough where I was using the flare gun, I believe it increased the XP towards firearms efficiency. Might need some testing though lol

@WhoIsJohnGaltt Honestly I've never seen one either, but since you can get green and blue rarity flare guns from zombies and metal chests, you must be able to get higher rarities than that. It must just be a really low chance. I did hear that Riptide massively reduced the spawn chance for legendary weapons which also doesn't help.

Orange flare guns do in fact exist, and can spawn from certain chests in game (though I'm not sure exactly which ones they are). This is proven objectively by the fact that orange flare guns are on the Xbox definitive edition of Riptide, which cannot actually be hacked/modded due to Microsoft's very strict security measures.

Yeah I wasn't all too sure how to properly mount a gun to the Cheetah chassis without having it be a Valentine Archer situation where the gun is mounted backwards and you have to turn around to fire it though! The Castle 8-inch gun carriage is definitely the best of the artillery for looks I think, though!

Wow, I never noticed the church was gone! Then again, I've only ever played the DLC campaign once on the Definitive Edition! Hopefully they did fix the "perma-night" because as fun as having Moresby in daytime in the campaign is, it rather removes some of the atmosphere!

You've gone through a lot of it! You can do the final quest but not leave at the end of it, as there's a fast travel map to allow you to do anything else you want before finishing the game.

Yeah, the console exists in the game but I don't know of any commands for it. I think there are dev console mods out there for the game which will allow you to noclip and whatnot but for the life of me I can't find them, otherwise I would have one installed to explore these parts more thoroughly!

Haha, yeah they can be difficult, but so long as you have some good weapons, have done some team quests, and set up defences beforehand you should be ok to get through them!

Thanks, yeah it's funny that the Ripper Mod counts as a sharp weapon but all the other blunt weapon mods that add blades to the weapon still level up the blunt weapon skill! Not sure why they decided that but it's good to have a blunt weapon as Sam B which can level up my sharp weapon proficiency!

@@WhoIsJohnGaltt Well the Definitive Editions of this and Dead Island use a lot of Dying Light assets (especially for the weapons) so it will look a lot like Dying Light. The only way you might be able to get this version is via something like CDKeys or using a physical PC disc

@LakevusParadice Fair enough, you might be able to find an original key somewhere, maybe Humble Bundle or something will have it come up. The original versions of these games were removed from Steam when the Definitive Editions released which is kind of a shame. I like the HD graphics of the Definitive Editions, but the original versions are definitely easier to run and better in some aspects to the remasters
