Beautiful motor. I used to be so intrigued with the DS as kid in the late 60's, they seemed to be so 'other worldly' & 'Sci Fi' in that wonderful era.

Anyone else wonder if it would rise up faster if he bumped the throttle a little? Lol, maybe its because of my experience as a truck/lori driver, who was used to constantly having to wait in the morning for the air tanks to fill up before i could release the air brakes and feel the air-cab suspension lift up slightly off its rock hard bump-stops, otherwise if you took off prematurely, and there wasn't enough air in the system to fill the cab's suspension airbags, and you took off down the road, you'd be in for a REAL nice "Good morning! Enjoy the rest of your day..sir!" when you rode over the decommissioned railroad tracks that are embedded into the roadway, but still protrude up JUST high enough to make your entire semi truck feel like it was just lifted 3 ft into the air, and dropped with its frame rails, straight down onto a solid concrete jersey barrier! It was violent enough to make the glove box pop open, make your CB mic fall straight down onto the floor of the cab, and to knock loose any sort of lingering electrical or chassis wiring problems that were just holding on by a thread and ready to fail at any moment! Not to mention those poor fleet bastards who are forced to drive those old, poorly maintained, blown-out, shit box Volvos, who would be guaranteed to lose at least ONE headlight as its slammed down over those stupid tracks, causing the driver to have to wait 6 hours until its dark out, only to discover they're either short one headlight, or they have one that now does that horribly distracting strobing effect from it bouncing up and down as it runs down the highway! You know the condition, you can't miss it, if youce ever had one behind you at night, you would swear for miles and miles that there must be a police car behind you with his lights on, because every street sign, bridge marker, and piece of reflective tape will FLASH and STROBE like a rave party as the broken HID headlight flops around in its broken mount! I swear, those tracks have beem decommissioned for over 30 years now, you'd think the owner of the trucking company would invest the small amount of money it would take to remove that giant hazard from the entrance to his lot in order to keep every single piece of equipment he owne and maintains from having to drive over it at least 2x per day (4x or MORE if that equipment is running multiple shifts). Ill bet that one stupid rail costs the company an extra $20-50k per year in additional wear/tear and unexpected repairs that it inflicts onto every single truck that he owns! I've submitted this idea in writing, to the companies "suggestion box". Ive submitted it via email to my boss, the vehicle maintenance boss, the building maintenance superintendent, everyone short of the CEO of the company.. along with short video clips showing just how VIOLENT that bump is to drive over, and how hard it is on the equipment (even at extremely low speeds) and ive never gotten as little as a "thanks for the idea" back in return!

Had both and my preference is the series one 1.3 rallye. It was very solid and reliable and a joy. The series 2 is great two and love the dog leg 5 speed but unfortunately there problems with structural rust which is very difficult to fix

The greatest engineering marvel ever produced in an automobile. The DS21 Pallas was also the most comfortable due to their Plush Seats and Superior Suspension System. From a Technical and Performance basis there hasn't been any vehicle produced in any country that could match or duplicate any aspect of this 'Masterpiece'.

To change a tire in the rain is a torture. To have to do it in a downpour is worse. In the 60s had to do it and was lucky enough to be in my dad’s Cirreon. Stop. Park. Quick trip to the trunk. Grab the jack-stand. Attach it to the slot in side of undercarriage. Back inside. Move the suspension lever and marvel at the car jacking itself up. Grab the spare and tool from the trunk. Pull the big cotter pin from single central nut holding the tire to the axel. Spinner off. Remove/replace nut and tire. Tighten nut, replace cotter pin. Throw it all back in the trunk. Change suspension lever and car side goes back to ground. Put that in trunk. Return to drivers seat. Drive away. Takes longer to list than do. Loved that car. Still do.
