I’ve just gotten this campaign and I am a brand new player. We are planning to play it as a family, things, to neverwinter on the PlayStation kids know about different characters would they be able to choose one that is not a human dwarf halfling elf or does this campaign require you to be one of those to be able to play and not hinder your ability to enjoy the game?
@Encounter6
@Encounter6 7 ай бұрын
You could play anything you want. However, the game comes with some basic options and limited spells because this will be easier for the players but also easier for the DM. If players are familiar with other classes/races it might be fun for them to allow to play it if you also feel comfortable with it as a DM. However I think it is totally fine to tell players to stick with the basic Characters for the first few games because you are a new DM and do not want it to be too complicated. Good luck!

Hi, one doubt please. I've noticed that you never say the total of hit points of the monsters and also the progression until they die. Is it on purpose? Why? Thanks and cheers from Spain
@Encounter6
@Encounter6 Жыл бұрын
Yes true. As far as I know it is not common to tell players the hit points of monsters. There is a condition called bloodied from an older dnd edition I believe. This means that it has half of its hit points left. Sometimes I tell players that it looks injured or weak and then they know it is past half its hit points. We mostly play other ttrpgs without hitpoints so I dont try to change too much when playing dnd especially if it is recorded and other new DMs might use it as an example. You could look up the bloodied condition but it is not official 5e material I believe. Good luck with your games!

Amazing work guys, one doubt: I will be DM for the first time (and also never played this game before), I am working a lot on printing maps but I am struggling on having maps that does not show the secret doors, I watched the Gnomengarde episode and I noticed that you don't show any maps at all for the players, the maps for the players are or not needed? Thx!
@Encounter6
@Encounter6 Жыл бұрын
Good luck with your games! Yes we don't use maps any more. We find that exploring every room takes too long for us so we prefer doing it this way. For most dungeons/buildings I try to put all the rooms into 3-4 rooms so it is easy to remember/navigate for the players and the rooms will be more interesting because there is more in there and less empty rooms. Gnomengarde was different. I made it feel like it was huge with many many rooms and hallways so the players would not try to visit everything and not expect it to be necessary. I made a small list with important rooms players might visit like kitchen, dining room etc. This might be more difficult to do as a new Dungeon Master however. I hope that answers your question!

@@Encounter6 mattress toppers as in actual bed mattress toppers? This was your soudproofing for the room? hmm my room has bookshelves all around full of D&D books and novels haha so probably cannot do the toppers for mine. it would actually be really neat to see a photo of the room just to see it. Doesnt matter if it is not "pretty" haha The top of our hardwood table has a rubber Matt that fits exactly to the top of the table. Kind of dampens dice rolls and such. As for your microphones, I was speaking with a tech guy yesterday about my idea for a setup and he was saying the same thing . . . a single omni-directional microphone. I was worried that the sound would not be clear for everyone with just a single microphone. You use only one microphone with your streamed games? I assume yours is a USB microphone? Thats crazy though, your sound is really good and that is coming from just a single omni mic? As for my background, I plan to go with greenscreen which I can then make black similar to yours, I like the black background, it gives the video a more comfortable feel. My room also is not overly LARGE but its big enough for a large rectangular table so I have 2 players on each side with me at the end. This will allow me to do my cameras for us. I figure it will take 2 webcams for each players side, 1 for me and 1 for the battlemap on the table. I have a new PC that I just bought just for this purpose. I have a lifetime subscriptipn to xsplit for streaming. I went with a 3070 graphics card with my stream machine for easy 1080p streams. I also have Sony Vegas so I can go back and edit my videos before uploading them so I can add ambience and such for viewers enjoyment. I also will not live stream, I will do local recordings and edit them afterwords then upload to a playlist. To much can go wrong live where as local recordings you can edit to fix issues. As far as the transititions go, I can do all that inside Xsplit as needed. I am not familiar with cakewalk but will for sure look into it. So . . . you use cellphones for video recordings instead of webcams? I will probably go with webcams myself but the phones is an interesting idea haha I never thought of that. I'll have to research how you do your audio. I am not sure if I use ambience music during gameplay or add it in when I edit the game sessions after. What you have right now is really good, well done sir. I will be watching your games :)

@@Encounter6 So this single omni mic you have above the table, I assume in the center of all of you to equally pic up everyones voice? How much editing do you have to do from the original recording of audio to get your currently sound? The audio will be my biggest challenge I think.

This playthrough really shows the difference between this latest starter pack and the other two. Dragon of Icespire Peak took you 16 episodes to complete, ending at 6th or 7th level. Dragons of Stormwreck Isle took 2 sessions and brought the characters to only level 3. Lost Mine of Phandalin characters end at 5th level, or close to it. It should take at least five sessions to complete, with lots of room for more episodes, depending on how much exploration and side quests you do. I watched one LMoP playthrough that took like 35 or so episodes to finish. It was enjoyable throughout. Anyway, I think you guys do a great job and are very easy to watch. I like the changes the DM makes to the various encounters. I look forward to Curse of Strahd, although I will miss "Andy" and "Mag." (I assume those are the two "players" that couldn't continue playing.) Keep it up!

But still thanks for your input, advices!
