If I get this header I need an exhaust to fill up the rear Euro R lip. I think HKS Silent or Apexi will pair nicely cuz they are quiet exhausts. Very great sound man. Good job.

Depends on the setup. For basic setup like header cai exhaust you can do that on street. For 50 vtc, intake manifold cams injectors ect. you will have to rent a dyno locally and than he will tune it on dyno.

Think you might have forgot to cut the video at the 20sec mark. But sounds good. My tuner says he hasnt heard a CL9 with such clear sounding vtec engagement as mine, but everything on my car is stock, except for K&N 76mm intake and then the flash with engagement at 4k rpm. I only removed the resonator box and placed a samco pipe into the bumper with the filter connected. Main airbox is empty ofcause. I am getting a 76mm into 63mm split in the coming weeks, so will have to see how it sounds after that. You dont think 90mm is a little big for a stock car?

stock airbox is 72mm similar to most cai inductions that I have seen. That is one of the reasons all this fbo setups dont make no where near as much hp as my.

Having loud cross doesn't mean much as the smaller and shittier intake side is the louder it is. Once you move to ported manifold and proper induction than you almost cant hear cross at all.

Interesting. I will do the dyno after I get exhaust with my 76mm Cai and then get a 90mm one and do another run or two just to compare. I haven't done the airbox mod of yours yet, but I am planning on it. But if the intake itself is 90mm, I assume the piping is similar in size and then has some type of adapter pipe to connect to the standard TB?

Locals keep telling me 63mm exhaust is more than enough for what I want to do, which is full exhaust, vtc, and maybe rbc or rrc in the future. But seems k24 like big intake and exhaust

Nice to see some more info out there. Had my stock ECU flashed and they "locked" it and now can't be used, unsure if it is possible to restore. Using a K-Tuner ECU now but it's definitely better to have someone like Ralfi or Paul West tune.

On hondata you cant unlock that map if it is locked with password so cant get corrections but needs to be done again by different tuner. Im not sure how it goes for this flashed stock ecu if there is some wooo wooo that can be done to unlock it. Maybe ralfi knows more about it as he does stock ecu alot.

I did mine yesterday for first time...100-200 around 16sec. Was a little improvised, I started in second so there was an extra gear change and 3rd to 4 was bouncing rev limiter a few so I lost at least 1sec... 15 degree and a little weight. I guess that would be 14,5-15 sec in optimal conditions. With heavy stock wheels and stock flywheel, clutch and everything im pretty happy to be honest. Yours still the fastest!

Sure, no point spending big cash on that car. Get that header, get cl9 exhaust on it, cl9 intake manifold, cl9 tb, my airbox mod and you will gain 20-25hp + remap.

I'd actually be interested in seeing a comparison of a CAI vs removing the oem resonator in the bumper and replacing it with a 76mm filter, but leaving the rest of the intake stock.. That's basically what I did.. I understand it might not make more power really, but it's just to breath a little better without removing every oem intake part, and then obviously removing the filter in the stock intake box.

most cost effective is header+decat + cai + remap. That gets you to 230hp and good performance gain. Price for this is around ~1100eur. Past that you need intake manifold + injectors + full exhaust + throtle body+ 50 vtc gear and at that point you will be at 260hp... Add set of dc drop in cams and you will be at over 280hp but than price adds up. In terms of performance stock does 100-200kmh around 26sec 230hp 17sec (you can drop light wheels on it and light flywheel and drop sec more) 250-260hp + light wheels + light flywheel 14sec 280hp would knock down 1.5-2 sec more.

1:15 - How do you know it's too long? Honestly I thought so too.... until I saw the dyno sheet and then had to do some math trying to make sense of it (peak torque came in A LOT later than I expected). I calculated how long it would take for the first pressure wave to get reflected and arrive back at the cylinder it came from (I used the ballpark figure 1700ft/sec for the speed of sound - see the book I cited in the video). Then I calculated for how long the exhaust valve stays (significant ~2mm) open at peak torque rpm. These numbers worked out at around 6.3 and 6.2 milliseconds at peak torque rpm. That's a bit too close to be a coincidence I think. For the highest power - you want the 1st reflection of the pressure wave returning just in time before the exhaust valve closes (the first pressure wave carries the most energy to pull exhaust from the cylinder, or if you have valve overlap - to pull even fresh air from the intake into the cylinder.) I never did the math before and I would have not assumed, that you need have to have such long headers to achieve that. And every book I read on the topic always aimed for the 2nd reflection (since the headers can be half as long then). Even when eye-balling an F1 header of the NA days - they tried to achieve to get the timing right for the 1st reflection - but when you are trying to make peak torque at 18.000rpm and have a long duration on the exhaust cam - the headers have to be a lot shorter to achieve that. But also - I did not know that when I designed the header. I didn't care. I wanted it to sound amazing - which it didn't. That it made way more power than I would have expected was by accident - not on purpose. (Btw. the header is as equal length as possible, it was designed in CAD to the mm and then constructed with a 3d printed jig. Even if it would be off by a mm or two after welding - you wouldn't notice. One mm would delay the timing of the pressure wave by roughly 0.00000193 seconds. Even the temperature of the header pipes can have a bigger impact than that. Anyhow - best of luck and keep up the good work.

Cant write you that here. I have lenghts for resonances for honda headers from 7800 to 11000rpm and it isnt what you thing it would be. Some shorter design of a header for example on 421 header with primes of 420mm and secondary of 100mm will have peak hp and tq 3000rpm sooner than header with 200mm longer prines and 300mm longer secondaries. Header design from guy in japan is extremely easy to replicate. From picture you can see how long runners are based on pipe of furthest one that goes straight. Than you peace rest from elbows. If you use 45mm standard elbow it is 80mm long (the center line) and for every cut you can easily find out what length is make it equal. I took a look at this 10-1 and 12-1 headers and all sould like shit. They are hard to make to equal lenght because of elbow radius. Lengths sneek up on you and you end up with something else.

I forgot. 1:21 - The choke point is 3" inches - it's at least 1/2" too big and the merge inside is not optimized for collector volume. It could definitely be improved on. But it wouldn't change the sound a lot (which again - was the only thing I cared about when designing it).

Compared to true equal 6-1 from that polish guy with 325i it sounds like a bad joke. That m3 should sound like absolute ripper but instead sounds like yougo with no exhaust. Nice test. We run our race car with k20z3 oil pump with balance shafts, works perfect, We sometimes rev it 8600 and no problem. The vibration without balance shaft is not worth it in if you want the engine to last long in racing. We have been testing that muliply times. Everything is cracking in the long time in racing application.

hey, you know how long the proram filters are meant to last? I bought one last autumn, and out of curiosity I checked their website to see if cleaning kits exist. But I couldn't find one, and no word on longevity in FAQ or product descriptions

They last long time, life time per say. Just don't poke hole in them and you are good. Im washing them with cheep hair shampoo... Any mild kitchen degreaser will work Im oiling them with motul mc care a2 but any other filter oil will work fine. foam filter can get damaged and deteriorate and fuck up the engine.

Over 250hp in 1400kg car, has real nice drag coefficient of 0.27, light weight wheels, light clutch reducing drive train losses to minimum. Winter time also is helping here as in sumer it goes almost 2 sec slower. K motors have superior head design to anythin that is out there with k24 flowing 295cfm and k20 315cfm and superior port design. Getting over 300hp out of this engines is easy, not all that cheap but not hard to do ether.

Back than i had serge header, no cat, my moded air box with hi flow filter, reflash and nothing else. This is engine hp not wheel. Second graph I had light wheels, coolant bypass on tb, ported entry on tb, and made less hp as tune was crap. Had stock ignition in it.

Im using cu2 cam but that one will gain +5hp across the board. My header and intake manifold is where it is at.

Also using coolant bypass on everything, thermal gasket. Induction is also important. Most peole are using in bumper cai like injen that is pure trash... So every bit counts and at the end it adds up to solid performance improvement

@@CL9k24a3 i opet si ga dobio?! Vau! Razmisljam izmedju ova 2 auta pri kupovini, i mislim da lijepo tuniran cl9 jede fn2, pogotovo po pitanju ovjesa kad je stock vs stock u pitanju. Jedino što bi svako volio, to je da k24 moze više revvati, ali preskupo je uljnu pumpu mijenjati radi toga.

Stock vs stock fn2 ima bolji ovjes. Moj cl9 ima dosta modova tu. Custom balas stangla pozadi, opruge, distancere, fender bracing, strut bar napred pa je jak i po zavojima. Za snagu to ja pravim sve. Izduvne grane usisne grane usise, mapiranje radi poljak. I sa ovime nema greske. Od moje izduvne grane ne postoji nista bolje. U odnosu na stock cl9 100-200 kmh ubrzanje se krati na pola. Sto se obrtaja tice k24 ima predugacak hod klipa i max bezbedan rpm za ulicu je 7600rpm. Na 7800rpm ima brzinu klipa istu kao hondin v10 motor u formuli 1 koji se vrti na 18000rpm. Formula 1 motor je dizajniran da traje 2000km. Sa k24 na 7800rpm imas radni vek od oko 60minuta akumulativnog stresa pre nego sto pukne klip ili sraf klipnjace. Sto nije problem na ulici jer trecom brzinom da prodje od 7300 do 7800rpm treba oko 4 sekunde. To dok dodje do kriticne akumulacije stresa procice decenija.

Ono sto je presudno je potrosnja na cl9 u odnosu na fn2 u ustim uslovima trosi preko 3l manje. Moj cl9 trosi 7.5l na 130kmh dok fn2 11l pri istoj voznji. Na otvorenom mi je ispod 6l. Isao sam beograd budva i nazat. 800km punio od cepa do cepa 49l potrosio sto dodje 6l pri 4 granicna prelaza. Ekstremno je efikasan pri prosecnoj brzini od 70kmh na otvorenom. Imas video kod mene sa dokazanom 5.6l potrosnjom pri takvom kruziranju. Tome najvose doprinosi izduvna koju sam dizajnirao posto je smalkla 8% potrosnje u odnosu na weaponR granu

And magical 45% increased fuel consuption on highway over my cl while having 400cc less 😄. He told me it guzzling over 10l while driving 120-130kmh while cl9 is at 7l there.
