Step up on the step down! You gotta live the ant's life. You gotta think summer all winter, and winter all summer. When it sucks, it'll get better. When it's better, it's gonna start to suck. Be ready for both. Some day soon, you'll get off your shift and be in top spirits. Watch ...

Great vlog!! I like how explain what you're doing throughout the video. I like how you go to work early to read your notes. I plan to do the same when I being working as nurse. As a student nurse, I've shadowed nurses who just come to work and being passing meds and fulfilling orders without reading notes and really knowing whats happening with their patient. So many things get over looked that way. Keep up the great work and keep making vlogs!! :)

Well, it depends what the patient is at the hospital for and what questions to ask during bedside shift change. For example, if patient is in for CHF, I like to ask during shift report if - they have edema - lung congested with cough - on Lasix - blood pressure with Lasix? - any breathing issues that need PRN breathing treatments? -If they have edema, what's the pitting? -If on Lasix, what's the potassium and Blood pressure like? How are they peeing? Indwelling foley catheter or external or urinal? How much urine are they putting out? -If congested, do they cough up and spit out, use oral Suctioning, what color is the sputum? How many liters of oxygen if any? -What's the blood pressure like with the lasix? I know what questions to ask, that will shorten my time spent reading notes.

I can make a video on that but be mindful that not all hospitals use the same pump. I started at a hospital that uses the Alaris pump. My current hospital previously used a different small pump and now switched to this pump. Expect a video on this pump soon!

Hi Stephanie, i must first appreciate you taking out time to drop these videos for us. It’s eye opening to see the difference between the states and Europe. I recently got a job in the US on a RCU stepdown . I have never worked in respiratory before and have been studying as much as I can. Your videos are eye opening. 1. Kindly show more of the equipments and medications used on your floor. 2. Can you make a video giving a run down of how you work from the moment you clock in. E.g review charts, handover, patient assessment, drugs etc Hopefully we meet once my visa is done processing. Thanks

HIPPA violation is a big thing! I can't show most of the equipments because I risk exposing patients and sometimes I can't show how to use the equipments without actually needing it because they go to waste after that, so please bear with me. I'm going way beyond sometimes in what I show my audience but I have to sometimes run it by another nurse to see if I missed something that exposes a patient. I'll do my best to show the medications 💊 but not so much how to use some of the equipments. Sorry 😞

Thank you so much for the content! I’m starting a position in tele soon and your videos have helped me put in perspective what my nights will look like. Do you start by taking your own vitals or does the CNA do it for you? What do you do if the vitals are abnormal? Also, do you use any “brains” or special sheets that you can share with us?
@Stephanieayi01
@Stephanieayi01 Ай бұрын
Great to hear! I'm glad my videos are helping u alot. We'll, on the stepdown ICU unit we do have CNAs who take vital signs. If any vital sign is abnormal, re-do it. If still abnormal, check if there's any underlying condition which the patient may have which causes that abnormal vital sign, otherwise, if it is life threatening, reach out to the provider or call a rapid response and anticipate new orders. I had a patient who normally has low blood pressures in the 90s systolic. In that case, it's nothing to worry unless patient is symptomatic. Obviously, if BP is high and patient doesn't have a PRN BP medication, u will reachout to the provider for some medication bec patient risks having a stroke if persistent left unattended to. I hope this helps
