Anyone know where there's a full video of this event anywhere? I really would love to see a full version of this, as there were many many atlanteans of different ages and bodies in this event.

Anyone here know how to get the full DVD? Also, why is there so little in the way of footage, photos and information on the engine sheds? I've learned more about what went on in there from Ivor the Engine than anything I can find now on the web. I'm in Australia now so I doubt there'll be much in the local library.

Amazing how drivers were still basically talking like this in the early 70,s diesel era. It was still bicycle clips and tea cans. they were still talking about " pull 1023 off the coal road" and the shed foreman shouting out " right away home " after spending 6 hours spare in the drivers cabin. I remember having to call out " right the dummy " when shunting back in the yard or having breakfast " in the van " which would be the guards van. This film reminds allot of that era even though its steam.

Yeah in the 1970s the 1st world war was more recent than the 2nd world war is now. People still wore tweed, and bowler hats weren't uncommon. I was in my prime in the 1990s, and same thing: that was the modern world for me but how much has changed even since then...

They could because they got paid properly because they had unions. People in their 30s earn half what they did back then in real terms for the same work. It was possible to raise a family, own a house and take a holiday back then. Seems too much to ask for these days, and if you do you get fired.

NCT did the same with the revival of Nottingham Omnibus service 20 which ran Routemasters from Arnold to Nottingham City Centre. It was a disgraceful show by NCT, running buses to block roads. One service, one small heritage service and the Communist Party run bus service of Notts bullies them off the road. With the state of the city council finances I wouldn’t be surprised if they sell off more of NCT to Transdev.

Nottingham City Transport have a history of bullying other companies off the road, they did exactly the same in 2010 running against Bellamy Coaches Route 20 Routemaster Arnold line. Pathetic really, the council has far too greater monopoly over this and should really be broken up.
