I loved Random Harvest with Greer and Ronald Colman. Watched it time and again. Garson won an Oscar for Mrs. Miniver, though. I can't fathom it. This is the second time I've watched MM and I am once again bored stiff. The Academy just didn't get it then, and they still don't.

This scene in the movie to me is one of the most powerful in classic films. Dana Andrews' character was blind when he composed the concerto. As he listens to the performance after regaining his sight, he is recalling memories of his life and being blind. I guess many people aren't impressed with the virtuosity of both the acting and directing and see only the soap

I loved Bob. I loved him in this movie as much as I loved him as Superman/Clark Kent. Oh, George Reeves. Excellent movie. George was a wonderful actor.

A great scene from a terrific movie. Very cool to see Dana Andrews, playing the composer, and Hoagy Carmichael, the best friend, back in the stairwell, digging the composition's premiere. Very cool to see Rubinstein and Ormandy in their prime. Very VERY cool to see Ormandy conducting the NYPO without a baton!

When they started production on Mrs. Miniver in the fall of 1941, the US was still neutral and the studio was making the film to encourage US to get involved in the War; by the time this was film was finished, the US was indeed in the War.

Heard this on the radio in my car today and was really taken with it. It seems to have its detractors in the comments but I think it is an imaginative and inspired piece. Rubenstein and Ormandy seem to be enjoying it, that's more than good enough for me.

Execrable music. Pop drivel masquerading as longhair modernism. 1947's equivalent of New Age crossover. Makes Richard Addinsell's Warsaw Concerto seem pretty estimable in comparison, not to mention Bernard Herrmann's Salammbo in Citizen Kane. But an entertaining document of Rubinstein hamming it up. The crash cymbals sound like garbage can lids. And where is Ormandy's baton?

Ugh, that Richard. How annoying he is, so pushy and full of himself. I couldn't understand what she saw in him. What a cad! Michael is the best type of man. Strong, intelligent and stable and loves deeply.

One must remember that Lydia while detailing the events of her life is not a reliable narrator as she’s a deeply hopeless romantic who sees what she wants to see. I think she idealized Richard and allowed her illusions of him to cloud her judgement. She does this until the final moment, until Richard and his inability to recognize her forces her to finally face reality.

No matter how many times I watch this WW 11 movie, I am still enthralled by it. Greer Garson, was the most beautiful actress of this time. I oft times wonder if, in this day and age, we would have such courage and strength.

I've often wondered that myself, Ruth. (Most) people seemed to be more stoic and selfless then. I can't imagine modern generations putting up with rationing and a 'make do and mend' mentality nowdays.

Such a deeply touching film with so many life events i can relate to . Alan Marshal has become my favored actor , i saw him also in that incredible Film The White Cliffs of Dover 1944 and i think it was his best role ever from all the other roles he played . I understand that Alan was the only man she ever loved in this movie , i would have fallen in love with him too . July 20.2021

I saw this film and this particular actor Alan Marshal stood out to me unlike any other actor, but i did not know who he was and never saw him in film before . Not to long ago in June 2021 i saw the film "White Cliffs of Dover" and to my delight he played a lead role . I found him extremely handsome and he had a special way about him that i have hardly ever seen in any other actor . Him and Irene Dunn had great chemistry together and their eyes gleamed by looking at each other . White Cliffs of Dover will now be my all time favored movie , because it has shown every aspect of life and it made clear that there is a time for every season . A Time to be happy a Time to be sad and a Time to love someone so deeply and then comes the Time to mourn and tragedy of great loss . Yes there is a Time to live , there is a Time to die and for one person it will be growing old and being alone . This film had a profound impact on me it was filmed in 1944 and now in 2021 it is still relevant .

I saw this Film and thought who is this handsome gentleman ? Now i know after seeing the Film White Cliffs of Dover it is Alan Marshal a Australian Actor and he totally enchanted me . He also has a uncanny resemblance with my once in a Lifetime Love , sad to say he is resting in his eternal home and so is Alan Marshal .
