This is so good. It will help me out a ton, as i am new to gardening. I feel like rain cycles and hot times have become less predictable recently.

Been running hydro systems in the midwest WA for a few years, always comes with challenges because of hot weather and maintaining water and PPM concentration levels. Im moving back to soil based systems in wicking beds, your watering systems will be a game changer for me. I run of a couple of 300 litre reverse osmosis water tanks and with your wicking bed controller I will be able to maintain water levels without regular monitoring of the system. Genius

clay pot irrigation is ideal for fruit trees: each tree needs only one clay pot.

I was literally wondering as to whether or not this could work so that I could do this for trees and bushes in land scaping. Wow Great minds do think alike, ey Sir.

I really like clay pot irrigation. It is like wicking beds but even more water efficient as it won't feed the weeds. Plus, there is less installation effort needed compared to wicking beds. Automating the refilling of the clay pots with simple devices, like in this video, makes it even better. If I understand the mechanism right, your controller box simply keeps the clay pots filled up all the time, by maintaining their water level to vary only within the length of vertical pipe attached to each pot. This works fine when the controller and all pots are at the same level, but would not work on slopes, right? Maybe you want to invent something for slopes as well. I wonder if we could use fired clay bricks with a blind hole as emitters, similar to the current olla balls but cheaper. And then … I don't know … maybe repurposing a pressure compensating dripper as a pressure regulator before each brick, to make sure even on slopes each brick gets only a minimal pressure so that plants suck out water rather than it being pushed out by pressure?

Hi great channel I am also from Adelaide however I now live in New Zealand and cannot find drippers with a fine adjustment they all seam to be similar and I was hoping you would share the brand of control; dripper you use as I am having trouble with my drippers either running too fast or too slow, some plants get lots while others do not and the adjustment is terrible.

I hope you keep making Videos Dr Omodei. I just sub'd and I will watching you older videos, too. Hopefully they can help me get over one of my design issues. I'm planning on doing it without a pump, so stumping the flow to my reservoir when it fills is my current hold up.

Dr Bernie - Eliminating unnecessary & expensive technology from irrigation is a wonderfull idea... for poor farmers, it can be a boon, specially in horticulture applications ( fruit trees). It reduces the entry cost considerably. I am planning to implement your systems in India . Maybe involve govt + ngo agencies to spread the usage too...many thanks for sharing such usefull knowledge...
