what about this area coming from brooklyn?

Hi, in what aspect are you wanting to compare? The look and feel, the price, the amenities? To me Brooklyn more reminds me of neighborhoods in D.C. Capital Hill, DuPont Circle, Georgetown. happy to discuss further [email protected]

I grew up in "Reston" but we weren't part of Reston association. The hockey rink and McTacoHut were all within walking distance from my house in basically the only neighborhood off sunset hills between Hunter Mill and Wheelie. Those Hunter Mill neighborhoods are some of the best in NoVa. How many other neighborhoods in NOVA have horses? Several (including the one I grew up in) off Hunter Mill. Everyone else is on top of each other.

I’m a single teacher and I wonder if I’ll be able to afford my own apartment there even if it’s a studio, in a safe area…. On a teacher salary

Hi, I’m not exactly sure what teachers salaries are, but yes I have clients who are teachers and have found places in Arlington. I would also look at Shirlington.

Do you prefer Suburban Maryland to suburban Virginia?
@LivingInWashington-DC
@LivingInWashington-DC Ай бұрын
There's no one right answer, it really depends on your situation and what's important to you, your budget, etc. I would start with, where you are going to work, as the commute can be vastly different if working in one state and commuting to the other.

Lived in Reston back in ‘80’s…. It really was a diverse area back then…but now it is just crowded and overpriced! I am a country girl at ❤…. So as I became an adult, city life was not for me. I love the area I’m in now, no one on top of me, more land/yard space,etc. but it is all based on preference…if you like the city life, traffic, noisy, busy-Reston is your choice!

15 minutes from Arlington to Maryland? LOL! Yeah, 15 minutes could easily turn to an hour with that traffic. Born and raised there. Glad I moved to SC although the DC area is nice in many respects. But being from there, I just couldn't anymore.

All of your videos are great and very informative like the one about Vienna and this one on Fairfax. i would love to see one right down the middle even though it may be a lot of the same information as in the Vienna and Fairfax City videos. The area I am referring to is Oakton Virginia and Mosaic District including Merrifield if possible. But if not I've enjoyed all your videos so Thank You. P.s to all the Vets out there Semper Fi!

Hello! Firstly, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the video and have already subscribed :D Just for some context, I'm a single 20 year-old male in Charlotte NC, and am a cybersecurity consultant earning $96k/year. I'm considering to move to the Arlington area this summer and am looking for a more exciting place to live. Given my salary, do you think living in Arlington is feasible, particularly with or without owning a car? I remember you mentioned it's possible to live there without one, but I'd be interested in your perspective when it comes to affordability. Also, are there any neighborhoods you might recommend given my circumstances from a social and financial perspective?

Hey, thank you I'm really glad you enjoyed the videos. Arlington is a great choice, and there are plenty of exciting things to do there and nearby, without needing a car. Yes, based on your salary Arlington is feasible. To help you nail down the best neighborhood(s) for you, it's as simple as a handful of questions on zoom or phone. As a buyer or renter there's no cost to you during the process. Theres one development that will be appealing but you need to know the facts about, before considering. Happy to discuss affordability and if there are trade-offs. As a high level answer I would say the Roslyn to Ballston Corridor. PS, I'm originally from Charlotte. Brad

It REALLY is that GREAT. Most people wish they could live here. Most people who want to live in Reston but cant live in Ashburn, sterling, Leesburg, etc etc etc… By 2030, you WISH you could live in RESTON. You all better make the move now before its too late.

Yes, if looking at a studio or 1 bedroom you should be able to find something in Arlington. Perhaps a 2 bedroom, depending on what part of Arlington.

@@LivingInWashington-DC I would potentially work for Amazon, so I would need a close proximity to Amazon or a direct line using the metro. The most important thing for me is walkability and access to public transit
@LivingInWashington-DC
@LivingInWashington-DC 4 ай бұрын
@@gurdoman If working at Amazons new HQ2, the closet area would be National Landing/Crystal City. You could likely walk to work, restaurants, etc, but still have access to metro. They are developing alot in that area since HQ2 came. The Roslynn to Balston area is very popular as well, you can walk to most anthing and metro to Amazon. It's a short metro to work, but you would be changing trains.

My family moved to Reston back in 1968 when the population was less than 500. I grew up around lake Anne center. I loved that area and worked the boat rental with several friends on lake Anne plaza. This was well before all the other town centers were built.

When we first moved there we lived off Braddock road in Ravensworth farms braddock rd was only a 2 lane dirt rd.i went to james w robinson secondary school in Fairfax Which opened in the early 70s it was Named after the first man to die in VietNam war RIP and if you like mountains..the Shenandoah national. DC native but B-CC alum here. Loved my 3 years in Bethesda in High School. Easily the best Suburb in the entire DMV - IF you can afford it! It's very expensive. Great video....But North Bethesda is NOT BETHESDA. If you live there your kids aren't going to the Three Public High Schools in Bethesda (Whitman, Watler Johnson & BCC). Rockville HS is a major step down from those three if your kid doesn't get into Richard Montgomery. All caps...North Bethesda didn't exist when I was in High school lol (I graduated in 1997). That's just White Flint or Southern Rockville. It was just Cooler to cling to "North" Bethesda because Bethesda was very trendy in the 90's. But it's important to denote that for folks if you move to North Bethesda you are a 2-3 Subway stops away from Actual Bethesda, a good 10 minute drive from the Woodmont/Downtown Bethesda restaurants and Nightlife and nowhere near as walkable (it's the beginning of the Rockville Pike). Totally different world but still pretty nice.
