For some reason the sound screws up on my setup so I have to run it in a Wolf4SDL executable. Some known bug with faster CPU's and Soundblaster Live soundcards which there's sadly no fix for.

Man! The memory of this mod has stuck with me to this day. The plot was that Barney had his first worldwide live broadcast that caused all children under the age of 18 to turn homicidal and wipe out all the adults. Barney then, as ruler of the world, takes all the girls when they reach 18 and puts them into breeding facilities to rebuild his race of evil foamy dinosaurs. The boys just get offed at the same age. Very 'Children of the Corn' meets 'Logan's Run' meets a huge dose of acid. Wild times.

IDC what anyone sez nobody, NOBODY else's version even comes close to the greatness of this cover. A lot of my favorite bands have covered it, Soundgarden, monster magnet, Melvins, QOTSA, exhorder etc and honestly all but SG and exhorder are tolerable but even they are shit next to this one. Unfuckingtouchable. Period.

I don't care what people say. Despite all the more recent and more advanced mods that have come out since, I still think think this mod rocks! This was one of the very first mods I played that almost completely changed the feel of the original doom game and how you play it back in the late 90s. I still love the advanced weapons (especially the railgun), the new enemies, and the deadlier way the old enemies attacked (mancubus shooting rockets instead of fireballs, cyberdemon shooting railgun rounds instead of rockets). It's also still a lot of fun to play with other 32 level replacement wads.

Awesome playthrough. This game is wild. The music is also top tier.

The Original Hydlide isn't really a bad game just it was released in the US 5 years late when much better more advanced games where around like the original Legend of Zelda for instance the game was originally released around the same time and competition for Nihon Falcoms Dragon Slayer on the PC 88 and the MSX micro computer not bad just really old a lot of the mechanics from this game ended up in YS Book One and Two which also debuted on the PC 88 computer personally if you are looking for a bad game id go with Deadly Towers from Broderbund its way worse every room in the tower literally looks the same and there is no map and no explanation for which direction to go or what to do combined with the same type of looping music like hydlide .

This demo sounds as incredible as the first time I listened to it. It has all: amazing musicianship, great voice, urgency. It is really one of the gems that should be re-released in cd with liner notes and all for the masses!
