Funny how it is always men who enter the conversation where women are excluded and make the rules to their advantage and often very detrimental to women. So i will not subscribe to any kind of system where i am excluded from the conversation and elaboration of rules which are so detrimental to me and are different between men and women. Period

The day religions and education will produce the kind of man i will feel completely safe to marry, just let me know. In the current world, celibacy is the way to go if we want to be safe, stay alive and not be over burdened with all kinds of troubles and exploitations. That is the only truty about the whole thing.

The Mormon church needs to be more transparent to their investigators about their concept of God and Jesus, many members have no idea that God and Jesus are exalted men in the Mormon Church. Also, their doctrine is contrary to the Bible. They call themselves Christians but they have a different God than the one in the bible!!

Glad the conversations are respectful. Having been baptized and raised LDS and an active member, we don’t spend time or energy telling other religions that they are Christian or the fault in their beliefs and thinkings. In all LDS congregations we all believe the same about the Godhead and there are no arguments. We know distinctly what we believe. We believe a prophet is important in these turbulent times in the winding up scene before Christ comes again. My grandmother was Episcopalian and they hired a new preacher who they interviewed and felt he would preach in accordance with their desires. He didn’t after he accepted the position and it was a big uproar in the congregation. This is not an issue for LDS members which I realized at an early age. When Christ comes again he will welcome us all as his followers and faithful worshippers.

The biggest issue is always the identity of Christ, is he created or eternal and what does eternal mean, this issue is clear in scripture, if you read the Bible it's clear he is god with us, not created

I feel the issue is if what happens in the temple becomes common to people outside the Mormon faith it would be harder to claim "we're Christian too" knowing scripture and gods revelation culminating in the incarnation as being the literal temple, it's hard to explain all the money and attention towards something that was fulfilled and no longer a part of gods plan, the temple was the place the high priest communed with God, the reason for it was to point to Jesus, the temple today has no relation to anything of old, it points to a path apart from the one Christ offers, the whole idea is based on a misunderstanding of history and what the gospel is, just read your Bible .

The reason you are not considered christian is because you don't embrace the gospel, you teach the christian church is an abomination and your restored gospel is one of covenants and promises, not jesus and his fulfilled promise, your church is better these days what you claim of christians but to someone that has the gospel and knows the bible well, your church, it's temples and what it's members learn breaks our hearts for you.

I feel bad he has evangelical friends and obviously doesn't grasp the issues, joseph smith revealed a god that is alien to the bible, actually condemned in the biblical times, he the bible didn't teach polygamy, it is within the culture of the biblical narrative, but not from god, the idea of child brides and polyandry is obvious to the morals god created you with, but the biggest issue is that jesus is claiming to be the i am, this is not a created being, not the firstborn in creation, or the only begotten, look past the English translation to what this means, the tetragramaton.the gospel is clear on what it is and what it isn't in the new testament, if you know anything about the temple in Israel you would be wondering why the church not only has one, but why build many, the activity inside is screaming WRONG to your spirit, don't ignore it, please read your bible to learn, not to justify, jesus and the gospel is good news, his church is the temple of the lord, he was god with us, please build a biblical foundation BEFORE the lds history catches up to itself.

Christians have a fundamental fear of God, which they have confused with Satan a lot of times. This fear projects itself upon Mormonism or any real threats to the various denominations. The Roman Catholcis did the same thing to the Albigensians and other heretics or christians that disagreed with the State Hierarchy and State Religion. This Fear of God is something in the human original sin/DNA by now. It's not even a religious thing, given political marxism and other problems. The thing about human history is that Satan (not Lucifer) has their hands in a lot of factions. And if Roman Catholicism reformed and lost its power to dominate and kill the saints of god, it is guaranteed that some other faction will take up the torch. Guaranteed. Free will, is not valued by the Satanic factions, it is in fact something they need to eliminate.

Mormon was a prophet that lived on this side of the world. Geniuse 10 25 the earth was divided. God had prophet's on this side of the world. Like Mormon Alma Nephi Abenidi Mosiah and meney others were also true prophets of God. I have never read anywhere in the holy bible where Christ Himself did any writing except for in the sand. So who wrote the holy bible true prophets of God. Ever since this spinning blue planet was created anytime we as real children have wanted to grow up and become more like our Heavenly parents God has always called true living prophets of God..I known that Joseph Smith was a real man and a true prophet of God. It is not Mormonism it is the church of Jesus Christ of latter day Saints. I would teach my two year different than I did my twenty year old. I love change and growth and becoming. The essence of life is growth and to become and to overcome. That baby can grow up and become an adult. We can grow up and become like our Heavenly Father. Mormonism and Biblical Christianity are completely in opposition to each other. Bible believing Christians have the Holy Bible alone as their keystone, and rule of faith, and God's full and completed revelation to all mankind, while the Mormons call Joseph Smith's Book of Mormon the keystone of their faith, two different keystones, two different faiths. Jesus Christ is the founder and foundation of the Christian faith. Joseph Smith is in reality the foundation of Mormonism as well as it's founder. Joseph Smith taught his followers that plain and precious truths had been removed from the Bible, ( thus sowing distrust in it), and that he had restored those truths via his own writings, thus leading his followers to faith in himself and his teachings. Christians believe that God has preserved his truth in the Bible as he promised to. Christians believe in the sufficiently of the bible, Mormonism teaches that several other books (all written by Joseph Smith) are necessary to lead righteous God pleasing lives. Mormons believe that Joseph Smith's temple works are necessary to actually go to be WITH God after death. Christians know they go to be with God through faith in Christ alone as their saviour. Mormons believe that they can become Gods themselves, Christians don't. Mormons sing 'praise to the man', (Joseph Smith), in their churches, Christians would never do that. There are an abundance of fundamental differences between Mormonism and Biblical Christianity. At every turn and at every point of teaching and doctrine, sometimes very obvious and sometimes more subtley, but these two faiths always oppose each other. All the talking in the world won't change this fact. The dear Mormon people are part of the the Christian church's mission field, and not co workers in it. Kind regards to all, especially dear Mormon folk.

As this man rightly said, it comes down to authority, who or what do you believe?. Joseph Smith introduced his particular take on doubting the Holy Bible as many others have before and since. He introduced himself to the world as a new religious leader, a prophet of God, and a man who claimed to have been visited personally by God the father and Jesus, as well as angels and characters from the Bible. He said he was the founder of Jesus Christ's one true church on earth, with full God given authority, and was personally able to produce new 'holy scriptures'. He boasted that he had done more than even Christ and the Apostles, (History of the church, Vol 6, pgs 408-409). He boasted that his Book of Mormon was 'the most correct book on earth'. (Matt 23:12). He introduced new teachings, doctrines and practices, ie, baptisms for the dead, celestial marriages, exaltation to personal Godhood, and much much much more. All this was introduced in the only way feasible, that it was all once in the Bible but had been lost/ removed, and that he had been personally raised up by God to oversee the 'restoration' of all those things. Being a Mormon is, in the final analysis, a complete trust faith and obedience to one man's testimony, and a willingness to follow and believe in that testimony and his church, for a lifetime. If you are prepared to do that then Mormonism could be for you. OR, like bible believing Christians have done for 2,000 years, you could read and trust the Holy Bible completely (2Timothy 3:13-17). Tragically, Joseph Smith didn't take God's word seriously, let's not repeat his mistake. If you are thinking of becoming a follower of Joseph Smith that is your choice, and religious freedom.! Kind respectful regards to all, especially dear Mormon folk.

I was raised lds, this is true, we have so much scholarship and understanding today that Smith didn't like reading Egyptian, it's clear these days if you look at primary sources that Joseph Smith didn't know what he was talking about, if you examine his claims about the Bible it's clear his claims are wrong.

1. He did not boost that he had done more than Christ or the Apostles. After his death someone made the statement that no one had done more for mankind than Joseph Smith. 2. Moses and other prophets made the same claim about God visiting them...oh and Amos 3:7. 3. Ya! The Bible doesn't even discuss baptism of the dead 1 Corinthians 15:29. 4. Celestial marriage?!?! you mean I have to be with this woman and family forever?!?! Awful...just awful 5.It is not trust in one man's testimony. By their fruits ye shall know them...the Book of Mormon is that fruit "a marvelous work and a wonder." The BofM has a promise similar to James 1:5 in Moroni 10:3-5. We don't believe in spirit gods or spirit children, we don't believe Jesus is the brother of the Devil. We believe that Mormonism is a cult and is not a form of Christianity. Mormons are more closely related in religion to Muslims where their misguided faith is based on good works. Good works are a result of faith given to us by the Holy Spirit. Our salvation is a gift from God -- and unearned gift. Baptism is a gift of grace for the forgiveness of sin. It's not a work. No where does the Bible say you have to be totally immersed to be baptized. Christians, which you say you are not, look at the cross and crucifix as a symbol of our faith -- that a loving God would die for us.

When I, as a raised-in-the L.D.S. church 19 year-old, first went to the temple in 1975, I thought it was strange. Having distanced myself from temple theology, and the temple rites having been somewhat revised, I still think it is a little strange. (I haven't attended the temple in some 12 years.) Out of respect for his beliefs I don't want to say too much, but I would take exception to Dr. Millet saying there is nothing strange, even if the strange parts have been watered down. I do continue to appreciate Dr. Millet's willingness to engage with these issues. I feel the same about Dr. Mouw. 13:10 Mormonism has been, and still is, by design, very insular. Quotes by Church Leaders to the contrary. In the last 30 year there HAS been a stronger emphasis upon Jesus and redemptive theology. I would hope this trend would continue.

As a missionary in 1975-77 Pamphlets like "Christ in America" and videos like "Ancient America Speaks" were among our most used resources.

That's not archaeology, that's Joseph Smith and others "channeling" information. Archaeology doesn't allow Mormons or anybody else to dig up what is really going up, given the Smithsonian lock on American red headed giants.

I served my mission in the late 1970's and what Dr. Millet says @ 4:00 is very interesting. The "I'm a Baptist too" story is great. Is it 100% true? (Please don't be offended by that question) Either way it makes an important point about minorities.(5:30) I do wish that Mormons would emphasize reading the Bible as much as reading the Book of Mormon. All my life I hear "this year we want everyone to read the Book of Mormon" from the L.D.S. pulpits, and never "this year let's read the New Testament." Puritans may be anti-ceremonial, but Mormons are VERY ceremonial. (15:00) I feel that Dr. Millet is trying to soften some of the hard edges of L.D.S. theology in the the last part of the video. Overall this is a good presentation.

Why do folks find it so hard to understand that The Father and the Son are two separate beings? The Bible clearly makes that point.

Here is the problem with this whole debate. You either believe in the bible and everything in it or you don't believe in it. You cannot believe only what you want as long as it is translated correctly as mormons say! The god is a different god in the bible than it is in the Book of Mormon!! The 4 gospels of Mathew,Mark, Luke and John is the most reliable source we have, after all they actually walked the land with Jesus and would write scripture down as it was told by Jesus himself. I don't know how you could ever argue that!! Many flaws and no evidence of Book of Mormon. You also had Brigham Young teaching about a different god than the modern day prophets teach today.

So which bible is the infallible word of god if there are no mistakes in it. Where is the original manuscripts? Why are there so many translations? Where is 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one...in your bible. Let me know if you found it in the NIV. Dont be intellectual dishonest.

What is the gospel? The gospel isn't books. Matthew, Mark Luke, and John aren't the gospel, they teach the gospel. Then what is the true gospel of Jesus Christ? Answer- faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his atonement, repentance, baptism by immersion for the remission of sin, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end that is the gospel. 2 Nephi 9:23 And he commandeth all men that they must repent, and be baptized in his name, having perfect faith in the Holy One of Israel, or they cannot be saved in the kingdom of God. We have adherence to taking on the name of Christ through his atonement Mosiah 5:8 to endure the race that's set before us- Hebrews 12:1 so in the end, no one can steal our crown - Revelation 3:11. Alma 22:14 14 And since man had fallen he could not merit anything of himself; but the sufferings and death of Christ atone for their sins, through faith and repentance, and so forth; and that he breaketh the bands of death, that the grave shall have no victory, and that the sting of death should be swallowed up in the hopes of glory; and Aaron did expound all these things unto the king. Are we saved by merit? Yes! But by who's? By Christ merit and his alone. Moroni 4:4 And after they had been received unto baptism, and were wrought upon and cleansed by the power of the Holy Ghost, they were numbered among the people of the church of Christ; and their names were taken, that they might be remembered and nourished by the good word of God, to keep them in the right way, to keep them continually watchful unto prayer, relying alone upon the merits of Christ, who was the author and the finisher of their faith. We're talking about what happened to people who came into the church by baptism - Moroni 10:32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.

@@bigcountry9563 Does God know who's Saved ? Doesn't your Church believe in Your call and election made sure ? So is that a false doctrine ? The only Works I see in James 2 is Works of Love. The Love of God and showing our Love for our fellow man. Especially the poor and the homeless. Those are the two great commandments Am I missing something ? Is there any other Works ? Cause Paul says. Grace is a gift it is not of Works less any man Boast. I don't think man can get to Heaven on his own merit Only Christ is worthy and only Christ deserves praise Do you agree ? A good example is a scout with 100 merit badges while the rest have 5 to 10 merit badges Being Proud and Boastful cause you have more badges then the rest of the company is not a Godly attribute. There is nothing in the Holy Bible that says we can get to Heaven on our own merit. Or am I missing something ?

Not a Mormon here, but it always amazes me when Mormons grant the basic stance of their opponents and then try to show how they're not that different. If you're not that different, then what's the point of existing!? Eg, The lame attempt to respond to whining about the privacy of Temple ceremonies by saying, "It's not secret, but sacred." Question, why ought a religion's most central rites be open to any unbelieving Tom Dick and Harry to gawk at? This was in 2012 and he could say "nothing weird or mystical" goes on. (And if something mystical went on, SO WHAT?). Now it's 2017 and the whole set of Temple ceremonies are right on KZbin to watch. So much of this stuff is just American low-church Protestant cultural narrow-mindedness.

" If you're not that different, then what's the point of existing!" The point is *authority* since in every way Mormonism could be (but isn't) identical to another church, yet one is effective and the other not. Did the apostles choose themselves? Probably not, it seems Jesus chose the apostles. This is an appointment, an "agency" rather like a "power of attorney".

3:40...."Greek Fathers, or..Turkish Fathers." Mother of God. I have not heard anything so stupid and offensive from a supposedly learned man in a very long time. Turkish? Because Cappadocia is now part of Turkey, the Turks having invaded and colonized the completely Greek lands of Asia Minor and driven out the Greek Christians, he says that Basil and Gregory were Turkish? Damn, even his mouth isn't big enough for his foot to fit in it on that one.

“the formal doctrine of the Trinity as it was defined by the great church councils of the fourth and fifth centuries is not to be found in the [New Testament].” Neither is the canonical listing of the books which make up the content of the New Testament! This idolatrous worship of a set of books outside the living historical Body...always winds up with the kind of confusion you see in these videos.
