It must be nice having a large Chapters Indigo available to you. There is only a single small Chapters where I live and they seldom have what I am looking for in stock so I need to order the books. Not the world's biggest problem but sometimes you want that instant gratification!😄 You had a good haul and I am sure your Dad liked the Garfield.

Some interesting books there. Of them all, I would be most interested in the Kate Quinn book because I believe she has a reputation for writing good historical fiction which is my preferred genre. I actually have a couple of her books I picked up at a library sale but have yet to read them.😊

Sounds like these books were reasonably good, just not great. Still you had a good reading month. I had a good reading month as well with 7 books read. The best were Empire of the Vampire, A Gentleman in Moscow, and The Three Body Problem. I also read She, The Guns of the South, Captain Blood (really fun classic pirate adventure),and The Devil in the White City which is non-fiction about a serial killer in the 1893 Chicago World's Fair.

Interesting idea re-creating book recipes. I made the mistake of watching this mid-afternoon and I was getting hungry but it is still awhile to go before dinner!😋 I am reading Empire of the Vampire right now and because of Daysdeath there is almost no daylight and nothing is growing but potatoes and fungus. All the characters eat is potato stew with mushrooms all the time. Not very appetizing!
@crownedbooks3 ай бұрын
huh, that book sounds interesting! I might make potato stew...but without mushrooms lol I'm sorry...I hate mushrooms 😅 but I'm not really fond of the author tho :/

I have noticed over a number of your videos that you feature many Asian inspired fantasy books as well as Asian authors. I am just curious what in particular appeals to you about these books. I just finished the book Shogun and I found the description of feudal Japan absolutely fascinating.
@crownedbooks4 ай бұрын
I LOVE their mythology! You've got to read some of their mythology. They're so fascinating! Especially where there's this one mythology where it's called the Sanzu River in Japanese mythology. It sounds soo cool, and I think it's perfect for a book! Also, I'm hoping that I'm helping them to be more promoted

I don't read many novellas but I don't mind them. However, I am not a fan of what seems to be a growing trend in the fantasy genre, that is, to place novellas among the actual series books. Instead of say Books 1, 2, 3, etc., you get Books 1, 1.5, 2,2.5, 3, etc.
@crownedbooks5 ай бұрын
tbh, I feel the same. I prefer longer novels than novellas

I read the first two of Steve Berry's Cotton Malone novels a few years ago. I felt much the same as you, they were entertaining enough but not a 5 star read. The fact that I have not gone back to the series since says something (not to say that I won't in the future). I found the character Cassiopeia Witt far more interesting than the main character. For December, I read the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy for the first time and they were absolutely captivating. No wonder so many people love these books. I must be the last person in the world to read them!😂
