Hi Michele. I love playing with the gel plates! I also use one for my palette so no paint is wasted. I like to try different techniques and one that I love for a distressed look is adding some baby powder on the paint before the pull. You get amazing results 😊

I just got a gelli plate for Christmas and I’ve played with it once. I love the idea of having a palette of color to inspire the prints. Thanks so much for sharing!

Going in with a preconceived vision always results in disappointment and frustration. I tend to be a go with the flow by the seat of my pants kind of person! I love the palette you're using and can see great potential with it!

I love abstract art but feel intimidated by it...what makes it GOOD abstract art? But I also like urban sketching. What is the prompt gestural?
@micheleholdenart9 күн бұрын
“Gestural" can refer to the application of paint in a free, sweeping manner with a brush. 😊

Happy New Year. It's good to have you back. Thanks for all the great information. What tool did you use to make the big black circle early on? It looks like a silicon pastry brush, but it made much better marks than I can make when I use a pastry brush.

Thanks! It was a hair colouring brush! lol.

I love how these turned out. When you do the gloss medium at the end, do you cover the white border with it also?
@micheleholdenart16 күн бұрын
Yes but you don’t have to cover it. I like to make sure that the edges are glued down.

Artists watching an artist create is always funny. The artist creating is exploring, pushing, pulling their vision out of the material. The artists watching are quietly shouting “No! Don’t cover that up! Don’t use that color” or cheering on agreeing with the choices… art being so subjective makes how passionate we are with our opinions amusing 😂 Just found your channel today, I’m watching this little series before checking out your other videos but so far I’m enjoying your content! Thank you for sharing your creativity!
@micheleholdenartАй бұрын
You are very welcome! I often do the same, but love learning parts of the process from others. 😊
@JaeElleАй бұрын
@ Exactly, just watching your process gives me ideas of things I want to try. “I wish she tried a transparent wash/ bolder line/didn’t cover up that really cool circle, or whatever” translates to “I need to get my butt in the studio and play around with that idea myself!” I enjoy learning from other artists process!

I like to draw nature elements rather than draw with them. I love earth tones and dried plants. However, it's cold enough that I can't say I want to go out and "explore" them at this time. I am looking forward to see how you use these mark making pages.
@micheleholdenartАй бұрын
I also love to draw natural elements but abstractly. I think I will use the muted tones of this time of year for my art journal papers and page. Stay tuned!😊

Try Medical Exam Paper rather than deli paper. Much stronger and if you spritz a little water on it before you put it down, it goes completely transparent.

I love watching your mark-making videos and hearing your thoughts as you compose the works. You’ve inspired me to play with more mark-making. However, I end up with a pile of papers full of marks and don’t know how to proceed from there. I love mixed media collage, but I want to learn how to use/collage those papers of marks in a somewhat representational painting like a landscape or still life. Also, ADHD and perfectionism is at play.😏. Got any advice anyone? PS, I just found you on instagram and am following you?
@micheleholdenart2 ай бұрын
Sounds great and thanks! Why not learn how to layer these first and then you can try a landscape. I focus on abstract work. Maybe an abstract landscape?😊

@ I’ll give that some thought and a try. Thank you!
