I use a Janome 360DC and find it works really well for me. Janome in general are good for free motion sewing.

I love your videos. How do you get all these little fabric scraps? I mean do you go to the store and just buy little pieces of yardage?
@alisonwhateleydesign502

I get them from all over really. I often get given fabric when people are destashing, but I also go to scrap stores, charity shops, vintage fairs and also the end of line bins at the fabric store.

I love your work, and am really enjoying your videos. I have found that it helps me if I extend the drawn lines to the edges of your tarleton. Then I can always identify where the drawn box area is. Thanks for being so inspirational! 👏👏👏

I just found you. I am inspired. I live in Florida about a mile from the beach. I wish I could send you some of the 1000s of shark's teeth of beiges to dark I've collected. I'm not sure if you would want some, or about shipping to UK. I'll add some to my seascapes.

Do you wish to give sewing materials to the N. India Mission? I have a Facebook contact that's started a group of 8 Women, who study the Sunday Gospel, and learn how to sew. The are looking to expand their Ministry.

Thank you! This was the best explanation I have found anywhere. I think where I have gone wrong before was not understanding the difference between speed on the foot petal and speed with the movement of the hands. Can’t wait to give it another go and Inlove your work!

I just discovered your work this morning, am an active 81 years old, have a lifetime of fabric, vintage linens, threads and paints - and you are doing exactly what I want to do with them. (It’s never too late is my motto😊). I have subscribed and will probably binge watch your videos and then get busy. Thank you!

Thank you so much for your instructions, I had bought a free motion foot but couldn’t work out how to fit it also the feed dogs don’t lower and I found the plate that fits ! It’s just practice now to control the stitches and the tip of going fast with your foot and slow with the hands is great which I didn’t know. 😊

What am I doing wrong when the thread on the back of the quilt makes a bunch of loopy tangles ?
@alisonwhateleydesign502
@alisonwhateleydesign502 10 ай бұрын
make sure you are bringing up your bobbin thread before you start sewing as this can cause bunching of the thread underneath. The other thing it may be is if your top tension is too low, so it's worth checking that as well.

Do you thread the top thread just the same as normal sewing? I only have a basic brother LS14. Dont think i can adjust tension on there. Thanks for video
@alisonwhateleydesign502
@alisonwhateleydesign502 10 ай бұрын
Yes just thread it up as normal. You can't alter the top tension on some basic machine, so just see how you get on.
