I have a 1985 white one like yours, bought it 36 years ago, is now waiting restoration. Mine was fun to drive, luxurious, comfortable, powerful, and always felt safe in any kind of weather. It has typical rust behind the lower quarters behind the rear wheels - I have the replacement panels, engine rebuilt which now has 80K miles, a frame section professionally replaced where rust/rot occurs next to gas tank. Everything works, just needs paint, new wood grain, new moldings, headliner, carpet. Care to mention a ballpark cost to restore?

What would a project like this roughly run? I have a 91 Jeep Grand Wagoneer just like this one and I need a new engine for it now. I’m in the Greensboro NC area so it wouldn’t be a problem to trailer or rollback it to your shop but I need to get this Jeep back on the road! Thanks guys. I just need a ballpark price so I can see if I can squeeze it into the budget, I know other things may come into play also and not looking for a firm price but I would like the fuel injection on it tho.
@philipgrose4 жыл бұрын
Hey Don. If you are looking for a full daily driver restoration (not a body off restoration), these typically run between $45,000-$50,000. Depends on how good of shape your 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. That's Paint & Body, Interior, and new rebuilt engine with fuel injection, as well as new parts. If you are only looking to do a rebuilt engine with fuel injection, cost is $16,000. These engines come with a 7 year 100K warranty.

When I was born in 1959, my Dad's daily driver was a willy's wagon, I remember the first Wagoneer, white 3 door, 3 speed on the column. The next was a brown Wagoneer which he added a third rear facing seat. 7 kids. We would drive out on the beach in Provincetown Mass.

why bother restoring such an ancient engine? Why not do an LS swap instead? Smoother running, more fuel efficient, more power, more torque at low speeds, more reliable, and possibly even cheaper.
@philipgrose4 жыл бұрын
I like the idea. I've had people ask me to do it, but when I tell them how much it costs, they don't want to do it. Biggest issue is going with brand new crate engine and new parts. I'm not going to install something used or from a wrecked vehicle. As a shop, that's a liability and not marketing to those type of customers.

Hi John. It's a 2 barrel Holley EFI Fuel Injection system.

John you can get a 4 barrel one as well. I recommend the 2 barrel though. To me, it runs more efficiently.
@GorillaCookies3 жыл бұрын
I have the Holley 4 barrel Sniper EFI with a 1" phenolic spacer on a edelbrock RPM Airgap intake on my fresh built 360. I Used a new Duraspark distributor not remanufactured and added a Ford Cap a dapt and big cap / tall rotor to it. A Ford TFI coil and MSD 6al cdi ignition . And my wagoneer is averaging 14.7 mpg city / 17.4 mpg average Highway at the moment with just 3168 miles on the completely rebuilt engine . The throttle response is fantastic . Its smooth as can be and has more power than I ever thought I would see out of a stock rebuild 360 . I did recurve the mechanical advance in the new distributor instead of the factory advance curve and that made a significant improvement before I even added the EFI. But the EFI made the biggest improvement even though I had just put a new Edelbrock AVS 2 4 barrel and the Airgap intake along with a complete rebuild of my 360 a few months prior . My Wagoneer now has no problem running 75 mph with a light throttle input on steep hills and will really boogie on flat ground now. Its still a big heavy brick but its a much smoother and way more powerful big heavy brick now .

@philipgrose4 жыл бұрын
Yes the gold was available in 1989 and prior years. Yeah the dash is hard to maintain. They are known to crack, and you would think there would be a company that could make a dash.
