Thank you for your light Prof. I loved what you said about history exists not only I monuments and artifacts but as structures in our being. We carry our past in the form of language, customs, culture and so on. We essentially are a live history in making then. This beautifully ties in with what Freud said about the tip of the iceberg is only revealed to us in the effort of attaining self knowledge.

I would count Allan Megill among the foremost intellectual historians of the age. His books on intellectual history are a model for all aspiring historians of ideas. His book on historical epistemology (really a collection of essays but no less worthy for that) should be required reading for all history students.
