Once. Just once I wanna see one video or video game of the protagonist becoming aware of the children haunting the animatronic and communicating to them that he's willing to help them. I know Michael does that but it's all off camera and implied. You never really see him take the fight to his father and battle him. You never seen him sit and talk with the souls of the children and reassure them he's gonna help them. It all comes off so vague. Just once, have any protagonist work on screen trying to actively free those kids from their suffering and/or to kill purple guy. Like something pragmatic, rational, something that real world people would do if this was a real situation. You go there for seven nights seeing all that supernatural events, nobody decides to record and upload anything? Nobody brings outside people to investigate or even to help? To me, horror (any kind of horror) only works if realistic means of dealing with the situation are unfeasible or have failed. Doing something that most people in the real world would do and it fails. If horror is scary because its dramatic but unbelievable, then its just so hard to get into. The classic "white woman trips, doesn't get injured but doesnt get back up to flee" Or "Black guy dies first" Or "Let's split up" Stuff that NO ONE would do in real life.
