My grandmother spoke of going to this wild West show as a child. Rich just brought that back. Hadn't crossed my mind for decades.

I was hoping Mann would mention the influence of the movie Bullitt in a few scenes. Obviously the airport shootout but also the conversation between Hanna and his wife where she sort of psycho-analyzes him and the darkness of his work. So similar to Bisset doing the same thing with McQueen along the side of the road in Bullitt.

An Old Timer once told me, "You'd be surprised what you'd eat when you're starving." hahaha Hope to never experience it. I came close in Southern Cal. It was the worse feeling in the world.

And... those early oil barons lobbied the crap outta gov't to make sure the trains were going to run on petroleum and not electricity like the rest of the world. So... texas and early oil assholes are the source of our climate, our air, and our multitudinous number of morally bankrupt corporations

love the bit starting at 32:53 about the inner lives of the characters and the concept of fortune vs. causality 35:00 "what will befall you is a function of how you think about the life you're in"

What?!! I didn't even knew if that was based on true story!!! I was amazed by the script writer for such an incredible script writing!! Turned out that was real story..... Lol..... I still love this movie as most grounded hyper realistic movies among SICARIO & BOURNS ULTIMATUM

The best and nicest guy i ever met, never mind Michel Douglas, and a host of others, he stood out like a beacon. I only met him 15 years ago i guess and spent around 6 hours with him. He is the real deal some one you can be safe to look up to and has time for all. My story is to long to tell in this fashion but the little girl perhaps 5 or 6 will remember him and have his picture on her wall with his signiture. I was a little part of that, he became to me not just a great cricketer but a great MAN in the full meaning of the word. I have met and talked to a lot of famous stars and celebs but I Botham is something else. Thanks Ian i respect you loads.

What a shame Graham Dilley doesn’t even get a mention for his innings of 56 in support of Botham, without which England would’ve lost that test.

The two days that changed my life forever. Just a sport loving kid who watched anything and everything sport. Then, Headingly happened. I was hooked. Hero's happen in Cricket. No other sport has this opportunity for things like that. I wanted to BOWL, I wanted to bat, I wanted to play. I wanted to recreate these scenes for myself. RIP Bob Willis, you made my life so much fun. Sir Ian Botham, you changed my world.

A portrait of a whole country of insanely egotistic, introverted and introspective psycopaths. Only Putin's Russia comes anywhere near.

I can't wait to watch and pass this film on to my sons. So many lessons in this film. It touches on it all. Conditions that lead to decisions, honor, environment, societal roles and more. High level film making that stays with you and makes you want to watch it over and over.

There is a not so subtle message in this scene.......the average soldier has more in common with his "enemy" on the other side than he does with the politicians back home that sent them to die.

When he said George Strait I gagged on my Okie red dirt brew, but then Rich restored his validity with a tasteful tip of the hat to the late great Bob Wills and his Playboys. The modern Texas sound may be many things, but it all originated from the Bob Wills sound and the Oklahoma state flower: the "Indian blanket" (scientifically or Gaillardia pulchella). Why? Because it's a weed most beautiful when Oklahoma in the 100 degree heat of summer when all the other flowers die! It's loaded with tenacity and fortitude - just like Okie Music! ;)

I prefer Kosmische as a description. Sadly West Germany GmbH was post-war so just like non-Motown soul was considered "Northern" so Krautrock was a handy genre label. As its a BBC documentary they cant help mentioning National Socialism now can they? Dont mention the war!
