I am a bit envious I must admit. In a good way though because although I am unable to travel at this moment, watching your videos helps me take in mentally what I’m not able to do right now. Multi-state motorcycle trips have been more beneficial to my health than anything the military and or VA could ever offer. Stay safe, stay frosty & enjoy every moment both the good the not so good. ✌🏽🏍️💨🙏

@ ah yes ok. My wife and I took a motorcycle trip up from our home in Southern California through Glacier National Park and spent a few nights at Swan Lake in Montana. Once we arrived at Swan lake it rained for 3 days straight only to clear up the day we were taking off for Columbus, Montana for a few nights on the Yellowstone River. Are you still out on the road as we speak?

Wow! Gotta be slick! What tires you running in this? Shopping for a new riding suit for my may KW to AK trip…..hear great things about the Gore Tex KLIM suits but crazy $$$$….
@purely_nomad_
@purely_nomad_ 6 ай бұрын
Had my trusty Trailmax Missions here, these are excellent for more on road conditions and last long. My last set did more than 20k miles. Have heard great things from people regarding klim goretex suits, but the cost has kept me away from them. I am also on a lookout for a new suit, but maybe not anytime soon. For KW AK I would say even if you have a goretex shell, you might want to consider keeping a full over gear rain suit as it will help to keep the shell dry in case of very heavy rains. I faced extreme rains during my first 3 days and glad I had my rain suit which prevented even a single drop from getting in.

What tires you get put in Calgary?
@purely_nomad_
@purely_nomad_ 6 ай бұрын
I was planning on getting the Heidenaus but they weren’t available and it being a national holiday did not find many options so had settled for Anlas capra X adventure tires. They did really well in the dirt, grip was pretty solid however weren’t the best on the roads. Rear lasted only for less than 7k miles but had almost 1k miles off pavement.

Had to watch them again…amazing trip. I’m planning to do same trip starting mid May next year. Thinking about storing bike in anchorage fly home and return late august with my wife ride south to Calgary or glacier area where she fly home and I ride the rest. Figured after 3 weeks in saddle two months would be good rest!

Definitely that sounds like a solid plan. Would recommend taking different routes in each direction, there’s the cassiar highway (more remote) and Alaska highway and both are equally beautiful from what I’ve read. Also if possible would highly taking the top of the world highway. It’s dirt but easy dirt with some of the most amazing views riding on top of the mountains. Do check if the border post is opened when you are traveling, I think it opens mid June.

Would recommend start soon and be flexible with what you want to include as well as night stays as weather impacted a lot of planning I had done. My exact route is at the very end of the last video of the series, but I started From NYC -> Key West -> Turned Around -> Atlanta -> Kansas City -> Badlands -> Glacier National Park -> Calgary -> Banff & Jasper -> Hyder, AK -> Took the Cassiar highway North (very remote but highly recommended) -> Watson Lake -> Dawson City -> Top of the world Highway (Highly Recommended) -> Fairbanks -> Dalton -> Coldfoot -> Prudhoe Bay

@purely_nomad_

Thank you for all your kind words. I never did a gear list but I was well equipped for if I get stranded by the roadside including tent and supplies that could get me through the night and always carried enough water in a camelbcack. I did a small ride prep thread on advrider if you are interested it's here which covers prepping up the bike and some discussions about the route taken. advrider.com/f/threads/ultimate-coast-to-coast-ride-prep-thread-nyc-key-west-deadhorse.1640173/

Glad you enjoyed! I’m not very good at camping, still learning. I was carrying a tent for if I couldn’t find a place to stay on this trip and infact I did camp in Glacier National Park but apart from that I was lucky to find accommodation everywhere. Although ones on Dalton were very expensive and if I ever do the road again I would prefer camping more.

Technically, the Dalton doesn't go all the way to the Arctic Ocean, that's the Dempster. The Dalton stops a few miles shy in Prudhoe Bay and to see it you need to take a tourist bus the rest of the way.
@purely_nomad_

That is correct. Do want to ride the Dempster some day and go camping at the arctic ocean.
